What if there was a forum for discussing these?

Hey. You guys may be on to something.

Cows all the colors of plants. Photosynthising and chewing their cuds.

Huge. They may grow quite large.

Maybe Paul Bunyon and his blue ox, Babe, are not so far fetched.

The blue ox stands explained. The man is all fiction.

Except for the color of the ox.

Tropical plants can have purple leaves, purple used to be known as royal blue. Solution found.

<- from Minnesota. Babe isn't "royal" blue. He's somewhere around teal or sky blue, depending on which statue you're looking at. Solution lost again.

Your cows will be all the great colors. The already have the brown pigment.
As anthocyonine is added with xanthophille the white part will become purple, blue and red. Carotine and cloraphile will add depth. The melanine may mask the green. Those cute little Jerdy cows could be the color of carrots with purple ears and tail.

The could really be fun. Big. ATP directly from the sun and from foder.

O.K. does this explain the size of the wooly momath? Their hair was harvesting energy from the sun.

Please ignore the doble post. (I have hardware problems.)

In the summer bovine are colorfull. The have lots of energy. They run around and play. The ones with the fins take to the air from time to time. Cattle watching would be entertaining. Handling them would be risky.

There may be a shift in paradiem. In the summer the Cattle are bright and active. In the fall they turn brown and go to sleep.. We harvest them in the winter.

It could be a big moral issue. No 'good person' would ever harvest a colorful cow. Only sleeping brown ones.
Verdant Cows. What a great idea. Science, the private part, is not so much 'what is as what might be.

I read, in the Weekly Science News over a decade ago, that while plants only used a small percent of sunlight, the actual chlorophyll molecule had the staggering efficiency of 90%

I fought with search engines to find that old reference, but they failed. If anyone knows about it, or any updates, please let us know.

Otherwise, the answer needs to be updated. ... what would happen if the cows in question had a higher density of chlorophyll? More power. And there is the desired, fun, runaway 'more power' question to be answered.
