Now this is a game with a new premise: The setting is a hyperbolic plain, which means that the geometry is... acting weird. Most noticeable: An area can be quite huge and still have a small radius. Ask a mathematician specialized in geometry, if necessary.
I secretly suspect the first level (the icy land) was originally made as a demonstration of the heat equation in hyperbolic space. The alchemist lab also seems like an excuse to show off percolation.
