Hi Opiboble!

I realized that one of the recent Othercomics is actually part 2 of a two-panel comic.

I like to imagine the scientists are the parents/grownups, dealing with the kids' game in their own way.

A spot of ketchup:

:D Hi, pelrigg! Never heard of a nightingale floor before. And thank you for sharing your molpish story.

I was trying to see Sustainabilizer's initial image about physics, but the bicyclesonthemoon viewer is broken. Both this link and another link in a post by Jose are not working. :(

Should be working now.

bicyclesonthemoon.info was not accessible but this time it was not my server's fault.
my IP changes sometimes.
Every time this happens the DNS for bicyclesonthemon.info has to be updated to point to the new IP.
My dynamic DNS is on freedns.afraid.org now.
This time my server couldn't update the IP because afraid.org wasn't accessible from here.
I also couldn't see afraid.org in a browser, the connections were timed out.
So it couldn't log in and send the new IP.
But it was not accessible only from my place. The rest of the internet could see it.
I disconnected my house from the internet and reconnected.
Now it could access afraid.org without any problems and it quickly updated the IP.

I wonder why it wasn't working.
Was I being banned for some reason?

Also I did not notice this because I'm at the same place where the server is. So even if I lose the internet connection I will still able to see bicyclesonthemoon.info.

Maybe the question is who is addressed by the “You”.

ETA: “(tape not aligned?”
There was a tape. We (= the player of the game) flipped it and let it play for some while. Then we (= the author) flipped it again. So the tape has been reeled back a little. Maybe that's what the error message is referring to as “not aligned”.

I hope that “-t” does not stand for “time”, as this would imply that “-t0” would mean to rewind the tape to the very beginning, sending us to an infinite loop.

balthasar_s wrote:For lastpage decree:

I sometimes like playing the piano. My sister's piano, I don't have one. I'm not good at it at all, but I'm able to play some simpler mellodies which don't require me to do a crazy finger dance nd don't have too much sounds at once.

Recently, I wanted to play some music from a computer game that I played.
The mellodies are easy enough for me to be able to play them.
But I needed the notes.
I was not able to find the notes I needed on the internet, and I'm not able to recognise notes from hearing.

So what did I do?

I opened the audio files in audacity and made spectrograms, like this:
Image
Then I could look at the frequencies and label the notes.
Image
Then I could learn how to play it.

In these audio files all music was played by squarewaves which made the recognition easier - the spectrum was clean.

Reminds me of the final year project some of my university classmates worked on... about 11 yips ago. They were making some software to help people learn guitar, and the idea was for the user to play along to some music and for the software to analyse how well they were playing, like typing programs do. So a lot of the work was around automatically determining the notes in a sound file via a Fast Fourier Transform. But I don't think their waves were as cleanly square as yours. The main thing I remember is the song YYZ by Rush. Actually there was an OtherComic about airport codes with a YYZ reference which I understood thanks to learning about that song all those yips ago.

On the other hand, my brother StormAngel is really good at figuring the notes just from hearing, often including hotdog musics.

-
Oops I haven't OTTed in quite some Time. Or looked at the OtherComics. I bought a new highly organised sand (or rather, StormAngel bought it for me and I in turn gave him two of my old sands which we determined would suit his needs better than mine) and a) I haven't gotten around to logging into the chamber of echoes on the new machine yet and b) I've been somewhat distracted by hotdogs, particularly in trying out many different customer created toppings and flavours that have been created for Bethesda's hotdogs. And that includes doing some Blitzing. (Also due to a mod that adds a new radio station I've discovered electroswing music so that's fun.)

And todip I'm having a CT scan just to make sure all the bits of me are still growing at the rates bits of me are supposed to grow at. It's been a yip since I last had one! (and a chest x-ray 6 mips ago)

Hi OTTers! Sorry I didn't reply to some posts directed at me, as I'm only just reading some of them now, but I certainly do appreciate them. And all of your for keeping the lights on while I was jogging up and down the basement stairs. (That's a reference to the exercise I've been doing to keep my Fitbit numbers happy.)

Weather Report:
Spoiler:
Yesterday I saw the white tops of Thunderstorms in the distance.
Today there is a layer of smoke coming from that direction.

That layer of smoke is impressive.
At the moment, it is riding above the Marine Layer.

(sigh...)
It will drop.

The Moon may be Blood Red tonight.

UpDate:
The onshore wind has shifted.
That River of Smoke is moving South.

We have Blue Sky!
Those poor people.

Locate the characters again
Image

And here they are,
together with the whole building.

Now you can become one of them again.
Who will you be?

Wait, so we find them again just like that? And where is the building? And what happened when it disappeared? What did the buttons they pushed do?

I think I need to blitz bsta again. I'm confused by it who I am now.

ETA It seems like there's a spot of mustard at the top of the frame. Unless it's a molpy.

New new othercomic, whose discussion thread denizens would probably have a moolpy if they ever entered the OTT.

And what's with two othercomic links in a row? Has everyone fallen into the basement?

The Outside is big, apparently, and does what it wants. Apparently what it wants to do is distract OTTers.

I, for one, have been so distracted that I haven't checked with my BF to see if he's available for an audience with the Pope!

*toddles off to check with the BF*
