It's right here in the topic list: 18-21 (Or more) missing individual XKCD comic threads.

Hopefully this is in the right place. I'm looking for the comic of the woman at the computer... Her kid comes in and says, "Mom, I'm hungry." Mom replies, "Hush, I'm coding. You ate yesterday."

It's a single strip with maybe three panels.

Thanks very much.

This is the right place. And this is the right comic, fourth panel. (spoiler warning: it's on the last comic of the 1337 pentalogy, so if you first want to re-read that story, click on the latter link)

Can't find a comic from Randall

Postby ewanchapman » Thu Aug 08, 2019 9:57 am UTC

The comic he drew about predictions for the next year at MIT. I remember it's layout, punchline, title, but no amount of googling brings it up. They all lead to a mymit website that is dead, all other references to the image lead back to it. This has a short discussion on it.

Can anyone help?

Found it in a PDF. Screenshotted and cropped it.

Arguing About The Smallest Things Imaginable

I am fairly certain that I saw this cartoon either on xkcd or in The
New Yorker, because it is the kind of cartoon that would appear in
xkcd, or The New Yorker, but mostly because I rarely see cartoons
anywhere else.

The picture is of a (presumably married) couple in the midst of an
angry quarrel. The caption above the man is words to the effect of (I
am improvising somewhat here, because I don't remember exactly)
"Neutrinos, Pions, Tauons -- I can't take all these new-fangled
particles! Protons, neutrons and electrons are good enough for me!"
and the caption above the the woman is "How could I have ever loved a
man who doesn't know that the universe is made up of quarks and
leptons?". The text underneath the cartoon is (improvising again, I
do not recall the couple's name): "Lately, the Smiths had been arguing
about the smallest things imaginable".

Where can I find a copy of this cartoon? If it is not anywhere on the
World Wide Web (perhaps because it predated the era of widespread
scanning and uploading of published cartoons), please tell me the
issue where it appeared; I can then, presumably, go to a good library
and pull a copy of the magazine, and see it that way.

This is the kind of cartoon that readers of xkcd would enjoy, even if
it is a New Yorker cartoon and not an xkcd cartoon. But if you think
that this topic is not of general interest to the readers of this
forum, please reply by e-mail to jay at m5 dot chicago dot il dot us.
Thank you in advance for any and all replies.
