What is a god?

Postby zealo » Sat Oct 17, 2009 5:49 pm UTC

Different people have had different views of what a god is. It is a question i struggle to anser in any meaningful way.

So,in your opinion, what qualities define one as a god, and are there any that can be define one as 'not a god' by their absence?

Things like:
created the universe
supernatural powers
lives forever

Poked out his own eye to gain understanding.
Fucked everyone and everything and then made them immortal fixtures of the tapestry of fate.
Usurped the original Gods to sit at the throne.

Stuff like that. I.e., mostly good just epic stories exaggerated because the human imagination is a truly limitless engine.
... with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.
