Is the arrow stuck on the wall of the second panel before mysteriously vanishing, or did Randall just manage to draw it at exactly the right time to capture the arrow before it left the panel completely?

Also, I like the twang lines on the bowstring.

Does that mean it's time to update the boomerang comic generators?

my eyes skipped to the end first, and then i rearead it, and this made me so funny. For some strange reason the boomerang comics are some of the funniest he has done. not best comics, but the biggest laughs, I don't know why. something about repeated, slightly modified humor in swift sucession really gets me going. formulas irk me, but quick repetive things, I die. like outakes of the same scene, botched in a comical manner again and again, the sum is so much greater than the parts ,esp if its jackie almost getting hurt, or Crowbar's belt popping off. I don't know why.

Yeah, ain't it though? He's got literally hundreds of comic poems... you can find a bunch of them on YouTube. I was looking for his one about his homing phoenix, but I couldn't find a video of it. It's pretty great, too.

When I first saw that quote as a young child, I only imagined bananas being thrown around and thought it was some kind of surrealist slapstick humour (along the lines of, "Why did the plane crash? Because the pilot was a tomato."), which I've never been a huge fan of.

I subsequently forgot about the quote for many years and then saw it again a few years ago and was totally shocked to realise it actually falls in to the category of word play and double meanings - by far my favourite kind of humour.

No, I don't actually have a point and it's not on topic to the comic... just felt like sharing.

The latter; he had to focus and draw it really fast to get it in that position. If he had drawn a bit slower, the arrow would have been in the next panel by the time he drew it.

time flies like an arrow, ah yes. I laughed the first time i heard that simply because i find the word banana entertainnig. took maybe 2 years and many repetitions by the original joker to finally notice the wordplay. at which point it was hilarious.

I don't get it. He shot an arrow, not a boomerang. Arrows don't magickally morph into boomerangs (magically, even).

It has to be a banana.

This feels like classic xkcd to me. Perhaps it's because the recent comics have been somewhat wordy?

No lie, I have a boomerang right next to me from my dad's work trip to Australia a month ago. Since he got back, I've had this song stuck in my head, which I hadn't listened to in probably ten years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAYmk9Qb9Dc

So, I've often heard of the second law of thermodynamics implying that the arrow of time cannot be reversed....

Does this mean that that in a universe ruled by boomerang analogies would be anti-entropic? Could this be an answer to the Final Question?

this comic was pretty nostalgic, i'd like to see more "sequels" of older comics
i'd hazard a guess that the "return of the boomerang" sequel title thing in the title text was a bit of randall's amatuer meta (ameta?) self aware stuff.

IT WAS JUST AN OLD PIECE OF WOOD...
"Hey an old piece of wood!"

SO HE JUST THREW IT AWAY...
"Haha! You should throw it in the lake!"
"Haha! That's a great idea!"

BUT HE NEVER SUSPECTED...
... IT WOULD COME BACK....
"W-What the hell is that doing here?"
"I thought you threw it away, man!"
"It just keeps finding me every time I throw it away!"
"My GOD..."

...FOR VENGEANCE...
"It will never stop, it can always find us..."
"We have to get rid of it!"
"It's ruining our lives!"
"WHY?! WON'T?! YOU?! LEEEEEEAVE?????!!??!"
