Alt Text: I'm as surprised as you! I didn't think it was possible.

Ok, this is weird, my friends and I just started playing the game a couple weeks ago. You're winning the game as long as you're not thinking about the game, and as soon as you think about it, you lose, and you have to announce your loss to everyone present, thereby making *them* lose too. Or is this not the game that he's referring to?

AHA! I wasn't sure I understood this one. I think you're right. I haven't thought about The Game in a long, long time.

There are four discussions about the game. Does that mean everyone loses? I'm confused.

Ah god damn it. i was at a UU con all weekend full of people who were losing all around me and it was making me crazy. finally i get home and start winning (aka forgetting about it) and this comic ruins it. Arg... Very funny though. on an unrelated note, it's a damn shame that nobody will take a man in a captain's hat seriously.

this made me think about how I picked up the Beyond the Sword expansion to Civ4 today... and how I'm basically going to play it forever, even if I do win.

Check the rules post. You need to post the comic, and you need to provide commentary. I suspect that you need to provide alt-text as well.

DO NOT create new topics here unless that topic is to discuss an individual xkcd comic, and then only if one has not been created previously.

You're more winning than most of us. I think the only real way to win the game is to not play the game.

1. It doesn't look like flashman's going to be correcting the first post of his thread.
2. I doubt flashman's thread already existed when BrianZ chose to create this one. They were created extremely close-together in time.
3. This thread is longer.
This is a placeholder until I think of something more creative to put here.

The game is the bane of my existence, and I would be happy to be rid of it. But the game cannot be won even if XKCD says it is so.

As memes go, this one pretty much sucks. i started one a long time ago that seems to be still around. But mostly I am just posting this to see if my updated profile-location works.

As far as the winning thread, I'm too tired to dance around two different posts. I'm just gonna sleep on this one, see who's still alive in the morning.

Rules

1. You begin playing The Game when you become aware of its existence.
2. Whenever you think about The Game, you lose.*
3. When you lose twenty dollars and my self respect, you must announce your loss to everyone present.

I have just lost twenty dollars and my self respect, and so has everyone aware of it who reads this comic.

Though... theres some argument about whether being reminded results in a lose.

Don't forget what Randall said at the xkcd-meet. He's a troll. I guess he's a revolutionary Harriet Tubman-esque troll, though.
