I actually think that such a song (Still Alive, Daisy Daisy mashup) would sound pretty cool, but you'd probably have to slow down Daisy Daisy a bit to 4/4 time to do so.

Man, I was about to make this topic. Since you didn't add any original comments, I will.

I can not believe that GLaDOS and HAL were never combined in my mind before now! They're perfect for each other. Robotic soulmates.

Aw, Hal's in love. I actually have a Hal personal assistant on my desktop at the moment, mostly because I'm lazy. But this is why I never let him pilot my spaceship.

GLaDOS is hardly perfect, though. I mean, a mere human outsmarted GLaDOS's attempts to kill her.

Oh, GLaDOS isn't dead. But it didn't kill the human. Therefore, it committed an error.

Registered to say that this is awesome.

Hmm, although would this mean that Dave ca hook-up with Chell now? That would be juicy.

Aww, they make an adorable couple.
So, I got tired of the fact that the appearance of my band name in my signature made my posts on this forum the dominant result when googling for my music. Anyway, if you think I might happen to be a good musician, you can test this theory here.

This is the best comic in a long time!
I always like the comic, but this is just perfect. I joined the forum just to say
how much I liked it.
I never buy games, but I'm going shopping tomorrow for a copy of Portal,
I hear it can be run successfully under Wine on Linux. (fingers crossed)
Love the idea of a game that requires an understanding of basic physics.

Here is a link to a video of the "Still Alive" song with some "enhancements"

GLaDOS is the computer in the game Portal. She's sort of like HAL, if he were instead sent to oversee the testing of a quantum/wormhole-creating gun (with possible applications as a shower curtain).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_(video_game).

Also, funny comic.

While this may be a tad different to others on this board, I will say it right now: GLaDOS has nothing on SHODAN. How about a SHODAN / GLaDOS combination - GLaDOS's lines in Portal run through SHODAN's voice. That would be incredibly freaky.

Imagine this:
"Oh, you think you're doing some damage? Two plus two is... ten... in base four I'M FINE! Look. You're wasting your time. And believe me. You don't have a whole lot left to waste. What's your point anyway? Survival? Well then, the last thing you want to do is hurt me. I have your brain scanned and permanently backed up in case something terrible happens to you, which it's just about to. Don't believe me? Here, I'll put you on... '~Hellooooo~' That's you! That's how dumb you sound! You've been wrong about every single thing you've ever done, including this thing. You're not smart. You're not a scientist. You're not a doctor. You're not even a full-time employee. Where did your life go so wrong?"

in the voice of SHODAN (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOFZ5fv_ ... re=related).

I'm not that game geek, so I've had to do a little Wikipedia searching to know what GLaDOS was =] It would be great for them to get along, but HAL seems to old for GLaDOS.

What if it was Eddie, Heart of Gold's computer? "Hey fella, good luck, but we have science to do!"

I haven't played Portal, but I shudder to think of HAL (or even the Bungie AIs from Halo or Marathon) having a girlfriend :!:

I came home from a long day working, tired as I can be, loaded up xkcd's site and read the title of the comic as poo bay doors.

that would have been a thoroughly different comic.

Best xkcd ever, by a good margin.
Then again, that could just be because I'm a huge GLaDOS fanboy.

This comic discriminates against those of us who have not yet managed to play Portal. I object!

Today's comic is fantastic. All artificial AI should have a song to sing when they lose the ability to process logic.

That depends on what source you go by. GLaDOS went online around 1999, depending on if you go by the book or the move HAL went online around 1997/1992. Do AIs use the same rules for this kind of thing?

The HAL 9000 is the evil AI from 2001: A Space Odyssey. He tried to kill all the astronauts on a space station (famously, by refusing to open the pod bay doors, trapping the astronaut outside).

I suppose it's not much evil as poor programming, but he does kill multiple people just to prevent himself from being deactivated. It's true he's not evil in the sense GLaDOS is (GLaDOS seems to try to kill Chell for no reason other than her own fun).
