Alt Text:
"'It's either 'your mom' jokes or me' 'Then I, like so many men before me, must reluctantly choose your mom.'"

Wow. Just wow.

Edit - I think this title fits a bit better

Your mom told me that she thinks there have been too many "your mom" XKCD comics lately.

This one was ok. I felt that he could've had a better joke in the comic, though the alt text was decent

The comic was kind of funny, the alt text was better...but I don't know, I never really cared much for 'your mom' jokes. Are they that amusing to people? and 'that's what she said.." jokes really are not any better.

While "Your Mom" jokes are often tiring nowadays, I find there is still humor left in "that's what she said."

Like, directly proceeding "Hit it harder!"
Or after "Give it to me."

Or something similar to that.

I like "that's what she said" in response to something irrelevant.

"What time are you getting here?"
"That's what she said!"
*Confused silence.*

Good comic. More evidence that Randall has bugged my house though.

At this point, I think "your mom" and "that's what she said" as jokes have actually evolved into meta-jokes, where the humor is derived less from where either phrase could make an otherwise humorless situation funny, but rather as kind of an absurdist suffix that results in confused silence.

Of course, one must ask the question, which is funnier? "Your mom" jokes, or your mom?

That's always a good way to shut up the 12 year olds in Halo matchmaking parties when you don't feel like muting them.

It seems whenever something that I've avoided for a while comes up, Randall writes a comic about it...

Does anyone else wonder how many of these comics are autobiographical and how many are about your mom?

I make few apologies, but not coming up with a more clever alternative is one of them.

I loved putting "That's what she said" after everything my chemistry teacher said ever. Trying to relate it in any way to sex was always both disgusting and hilarious.

"Now that they've covalently bonded, we can start titrating it."
That's what she said.
"We'd need at least four more kilo-pascals if we wanted to do that"
That's what she said.
"Now blow into the diaphragm, and you should find the resistance has increased."
That's what she said.
"Hold it in cold water, and try using the needle again."
That's what she said.

It was so perversely awesome.

At some point in the distant past, they were genuine insults. Then, they became gradually more absurd until people started using them as jokes. Now, the jokes themselves are so absurd that they're funny primarily via metahumor. The joke isn't funny in itself, it's funny because, well, that's what your mom said last night.

Has anyone else found that 'your mum' (sorry, I'm British) jokes are less laugh-worthy when you have been introduced to th victim's mum?

This is particularly noticable when the 'mum' joke refers to you having sexual relations with said mother. Somehow it only really works when the mum in question is some abstract parent whose honour can by sullied at will without any embarassment or shame to the attacker.

If you want an even more abstract metajoke, try developing a skill with this http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=soz number 4. (and rate it up!)

What happens when someone replies to "That's what she said" with "that's what she said"? That boggles my mind. Then again, is there even such a possible scenario?

Unless you've actually slept with the mum (I'm an aussie, no apologies).

Then it's just hilarious.

Maybe you should apologise for not capitalising Aussie. It's short for Australian, after all.

Hilarious! Greatly hilarious!
imo even without the alt-text. It made me smile(probably because I'm not really into the 'Your Mom' thing), but the combination of two jokes (btw both in former xkcd) made me laugh out loud.

Oh GOD! Does anyone remember the EPIC "That's what she said" joke I got on that kid in Amberlee's kitchen on New Years Eve? It was a little cheap I think, regarding trying open a chapagne bottle. I think it was something like "this thing is so small, I can't get it off." Zero, Noug, Wombat?

I had a huge "your mom" problem awhile ago. I said it so often it was completely rediculous.

I think the comic this could potentially be improved by inclusion of the universal retort, "So's your face". Everyone knows that you can respond to anything with "So's your face" and the exception that proves the rule is that you cannot respond "So's your face" to "So's your face"...

- Your mum's so fat she [...]
- So's your face
