2064: "I'm a Car"

Title Text: "I'm the proud parent of an honor student, and the person driving me is proud, too!"

Of course, only those cars built on or before November 6, 2000 are eligible. I have too many cars, and they're all eligible to vote this year.

For convenience, self-driving cars will be able to register to vote when they get their self-driving license.

The box above the comic currently says, "Check your registration and find your polling place at vote.org." My registration is all set, but my car's registration expires at the end of October, so that was a good reminder, even if I couldn't find its information on vote.org.

I knew the 1993 Motor Voter law would have unintended consequences.

I assume you have to register your car with the DMV and your county voter registrar.

If you skip the DMV, the car will have tobe transported to the polling place.
Not all polling places have disabled car parking.

Unfortunately my location is commpletely backwater, run by those trying to exclude the vehicular vote. Heck, the voting booths aren't even wide enough for a Civic.

We need drive-trhough voting.

Parsing fun: So, not all polling places have reserved locations for disabled cars, or not all polling places have disabled the ability for any car to park? (yeah I know the first option requires a hyphen... )

Also: on the cars' agenda:
-- mandatory garages for all new housing
-- wash, wax, and interior detailing included in every state inspection
-- Get rid of the pain in all the diodes up&down the left side [ok, that one is a stretch]

Not really, modern electric cars have a lot of semiconductors in them. They might not be eligible to vote yet though...

Isn't it like dog years? So pre-2015 cars would be eligible?

Would it be considered voter suppression if I don't tell Vivienne about this, since she tends to veer to the right?

I’m a car, and I vote ... democrat.

I suppose requiring a drivers license to vote would be a bit ambiguous in this instance though.

Someone posted on one of the Tesla forums today about their first incident of "Autopilot Road Rage". There was a one-car gap ahead and behind them, a car merged into the front gap at the same time as one tried to merge into the rear gap. The vehicle ahead of the front-merger suddenly had to brake, causing the front-merger to brake, causing Autopilot (quite reasonably) to brake.

The person in the rear (who had to quickly abort their merger) misinterpreted the event as "That a**hole in the Tesla is trying to block me from merging!" So he zoomed up alongside the Tesla and started cussing the driver out. The driver had no clue how to respond - he just shrugged, took his hands off the wheel and pointed, as if to gesture, "It wasn't me - it was the car!"

The guy was literally "raging against the machine" ;)

The title text implies the vehicle spawned an honor student. But I prefer a darker scenario involving moral and legal contemptibility. I prefer: "My kid is Inmate of the Month, and the person in my driver's seat is dead."

Burned by the fine print in the "Motor Voter" law.

The first car to vote was a 1932 Ford coupe in Drag City in 1964. It was very critical of establishment politics and would constantly whine, whine, whine.

I'd love to hear Michael Knight say that to his car.
