I don't know if this song has been OTTified yet (the search function here leaves much to be desired), but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.

Castle Made of Sand
an OTTification of
Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand
Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYJupYc3YAI

On the beach you can see them build structures of grace
As she knocks them down with her trebuchets
And now he stands up high all while the sea it starts to rise up and rule

He cries, "LOOK OUT!" and shoves her back
And then she saves his ass from the big cat attack
On the ground she sleeps for a long night scene
As the stars roll by and our heroes dream.

And their castle made of sand, falls in the sea, eventually.

And later on the trail they meet mysterious men,
Healed her leg with some goop and said, "Come meet our friend."
They walked for miles and when they drew up
They saw a fortress full of people and their chief.

Teacher told them about the flood to come
and tomorrow home and family would be gone.
But they wouldn't give up, and started to RUN,
Took the maps and didn't stop 'til night.

And their castle made of sand, is under the sea, most def'nit'ly

There was a young girl whose wisdom was strong
She saw the sea rising and knew it wouldn't be long
So she worked and saved the castle from drowning
and then she floated on by.

Tribe pulled her small boat to the sea river's shore
For their home and land wouldn't be there no more.
One day a land they'd never seen made them shout and say,
"C'mon, let's go see what's new up this way!"

Their tale really didn't have to stop... they just kept on going.

They built castles made of sand, next to the new sea... eventually.

Hi All! Home and just finished watching the OTC on Geekwagon. The End????? WTF!!!

But actually, it sorta works for me -- the brief sandcastle building before they see land, the "C'mon, Let's See" mood reflecting their original adventurous spirits. I was surprised it ended, but not disappointed in the ending. HOWEVER -- I viewed the pics immediately in succession to one another. I'm not sure how I would feel if I actually experienced the OTT version of the OTC!

So -- can someone direct me to whichever page on the OTT where the "The End" pic occurred, so I can experience it in the past with you all? Thank you!! (a PM plus a Post would be awesome, because I'm not yet in a position to actively follow the OTT). Hmmm ... although I could probably find it myself if I looked in the right way. Well, ok, so an alternative is to remind me about which of the many tools I can use to find it myself!

Nice to see the mix of OTTifications and blitzers keeping this place alive. I wonder how long until the first post you-know-what blitzer reaches the present?

Still in the past (NP1286): it's hard reading through all the sadness. But here's the ottification I promised, a few days later than I anticipated:

The Castle
(based on The Call by Regina Spektor)

It started out as a tower
Which then grew into a wall
Which then turned into a giant castle
With crenellations, flags, and all
And then that castle stood there on the shoreline
'Til it was washed away
One last flag on the tower
Megan whispered goodbye

Spoiler:
Megball's world is changing
The sea is returning where it was before
But LaPetite turned the castle to a raft that
Finally saved them all
They drifted under the sun and stars
Then finally reached land
Can't believe it's all over
Not ready to say goodbye
Can't believe it's all over
Not ready to say goodbye

Now we're back to the beginning
There's just a little castle on the raft
But just because Time has ended
Doesn't mean that you have to forget
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
'Til they're before your eyes
We will not e'er forget Time
No need to say goodbye
We will not e'er forget Time
No need to say goodbye

16.288% blitzed (I can't believe it went backwards!): Wait for me!
At the moment I calculate my blitz-percentage based on the total number of newpages (which of course continues to rise). Perhaps I should base it on the number of the newpix we do not mention (1254) instead? Opinions?

I've given it a while to sink in but I can't shake the feeling that somehow I've been betrayed. I don't see 'the end' as a natural ending point and feel like I was strung along though this entire project.
Call me Teddy. I'd edit my username if I could.

Then, to paraphrase NoEdge's quote smolloy brought to us from the Past of Time: Hours? What are those?
I still firmly believe that we should use newpix etc. as a way to measure Time. I mean, in the heretic Outside, people still talk about ThursdayH, although Thor isn't around anymore (at least in [heresy]everyday Outside live[/heresy]). So why should we abandon newpix, despite we don't have new ONGs anymore?

Spoiler:
A guy with a head shaped like a ball
Sat with girl and built castle tall
A little swim they had, concerted
Which ended when she spat and spurted
The guy continued to build the fort
But his building efforts were cut short
Because the girl wanted fun and play
So she brought along a trebuchet
Together they revelled in a grand cascade
Of the central bridge that he'd just made
But a trebuchet's a tricky thing
And one small shot went blundering
It almost hit her on her head
So back to building they went instead
The girl began to build alone
And began to build a tremendous throne
Bigger and taller, up it went
Until she a slip cause her descent
But now again the guy assisted
And they chatted while they persisted
They talked of the river and its excursion
Then played again with silly recursion
For a moment the sea stole the girls attention
To her it seemed to defy convention
But the guy distracted her with a thought
Of ramping up their mighty fort
And soon they were back with a ladder and poles
Bucket, rope and mighty goals
A mighty scaffold underway
But the girl soon realized they
Were witnessing an odd suprise
The salty water had begun to rise
They continued to build up anyhow
They'd come too far, to give up now
But they did try to make sense of it all
Of the sea so big, and river, small
The construction continued as did their concerns
Soon they started taking turns
They speculated of another other rill
Or any reason the sea should spill
But knew little did that girl and guy
So all they could do was to keep building high
Pretty soon their masterpiece complete
The girl lay down to rest her feet
And while in deepest slumber slept
A smaller, hatted, young girl crept
And looked admiringly at their amazing deed
Before slipping off quietly with hasty speed
In the morning the girl seemed in a trance
She talked a lot about the sea's advance
After adorning their mighty fort with flags
The girl suggested they should pack their bags
An expedition was quickly planned
And off they went across the sand ...

Whoa.... I go get married, go on a honeymoon, and when I get back it's over??!!?!??!! Wow.

Just caught up the whole ending (about the last 100 frames). Pretty neat, though it seemed really really rushed.

Well, y'all are cool. I'll probably post more thoughts on stuff here later.

This is a test video of the OTVO project

Has a limited set of voice overs so far and also combines in some OTColored frames. Each of the 3099 frame from the original Time comic display for half a second but colored frames now take 2 seconds.

Has test background music at 120 bpm to see how that works with the animation frame rate.

So, in about half hour I'll be traveling back home (real home, not where I'm living during college) and during the next month I may have even less time than I already have for the OTT. Hopefully I'll be able to stay here one or two hours per day.
I've just finished the comment upload system for my frame comments script.

Hm. I guess I never mentioned why I created FrameComments.

Well, my idea is having a book, split accordingly to the OTC Eras, depicting an overall description of the state of both the OTC and the OTT for each frame, along with otters' comments about that frame. These comments would show the reader what the newpix made us feel, what we discovered with it, how we reacted. And for this second part, I need your help.

FrameComments currently works only with mscha's viewer; it should be very easy to adapt it for the others, however. Once you have it installed, just navigate to a frame, click the comment button next to the title, and start typing.

Yes, it's going to be a seaish work (specially for me), but we have all the time in the world. Yes, we have all the time in the world.

Oh, and please reserve an OTTification for me! We've only just begun to wait!

Hurray! Buffygirl and kenmelken return! Welcome back! Commiserate with us. Many here feel the ending was a bit rushed, but it is understandable (especially after reading GLR's blag post).

I think it is really interesting to see the number of creative projects: OTTifications, Colorations, Epic poems and whimsical poetry, so much going on! I find it rather more like a festival around here. I must say (and perhaps missed if it was said before), now that Time has...well...you know...our efforts and attention are no longer focused on the next newpix, but instead we seem to be able to channel that energy and inspiration directly back into the many creative works that will help to further immortalize Time.

@Yappobiscuit Your OTTification was incredibly, enjoyably, creepy! Like the OTT meets Nightmare Before Christmas.

@Kieryn I cannot wait to see how your Epic of Time poem turns out! That may require a book all its own.

So many great things happening, I wish I could mention them all!

Thanks. The crazy thing is that once we get all the Voice overs done it will probably double or tripple in length! Like proper feature movie length basically. If we can get proper music done as well will be really amazing. Still like to get the OTVO audio into other projects like geekwagon etc as well so its not just stuck in movie form only.

Count again. 8 corners on a cube sorry.

ETA: A cube is made up of 6 sides. 8 corners (the pointy bits with 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top). And 12 edges (4 on around the top and 4 around the bottom and then another 4 vertical ones). When he was saying earth would have 4 corners if it was a cube he was probably thinking in his head of the 4 vertical edges around the cube if you were to imagine it spinning around. And he was ignoring the top and bottom size which is all ice anyway and ignoring all the top and bottom corners and edges where no one lives.

A guy with a head shaped like a ball
Sat with girl and built castle tall
A little swim they had, concerted
Which ended when she spat and spurted
The guy continued to build the fort
But his building efforts were cut short
Because the girl wanted fun and play
So she brought along a trebuchet
Together they revelled in a grand cascade
Of the central bridge that he'd just made
But a trebuchet's a tricky thing
And one small shot went blundering
It almost hit her on her head
So back to building they went instead
The girl began to build alone
And began to build a tremendous throne
Bigger and taller, up it went
Until she a slip cause her descent
But now again the guy assisted
And they chatted while they persisted
They talked of the river and its excursion
Then played again with silly recursion
For a moment the sea stole the girls attention
To her it seemed to defy convention
But the guy distracted her with a thought
Of ramping up their mighty fort
And soon they were back with a ladder and poles
Bucket, rope and mighty goals
A mighty scaffold underway
But the girl soon realized they
Were witnessing an odd suprise
The salty water had begun to rise
They continued to build up anyhow
They'd come too far, to give up now
But they did try to make sense of it all
Of the sea so big, and river, small
The construction continued as did their concerns
Soon they started taking turns
They speculated of another other rill
Or any reason the sea should spill
But knew little did that girl and guy
So all they could do was to keep building high
Pretty soon their masterpiece complete
The girl lay down to rest her feet
And while in deepest slumber slept
A smaller, hatted, young girl crept
And looked admiringly at their amazing deed
Before slipping off quietly with hasty speed
In the morning the girl seemed in a trance
She talked a lot about the sea's advance
After adorning their mighty fort with flags
The girl suggested they should pack their bags
An expedition was quickly planned
And off they went across the sand ...

Castle Made of Sand
an OTTification of
Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand
Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYJupYc3YAI
Spoiler:

They built castles made of sand, next to the new sea... eventually.

Neopifex, great OTTification. I know it's been mentioned before, but I don't know if it's been filked yet.

Leave for now with quiet sigh
Spoiler:
Cuegan's journey over land
Contemplate a quiet tree
Molpies shy, molberries neat
Let's climb mountains to the sky

Cuegan's quest to understand
In Rosetta's castle suite
Given final answers we
Learn the homeland's looming fate
Take my hand - it's Time to fly

Cuegan's rescue, bold and grand
RUN back home on weary feet
Tell them all of rising Sea
How there's no choice but to flee
Take a trip with LaPetite
Great raftcastle - set us free!

Time has flown but still we Wait
Hush, there's no need for goodbye
Molpy down - though it grows late
Dreams of castles never die

Works pretty well just reading it off the screen, too.

Ah - here on the thread, a "blitzer" is somebody who decides to read the entire thread from start to finish (or somebody who is reading a lot of past pages in an effort to catch up to the current page). An OTTer is anyone who follows the One True Thread, a.k.a. the OTT. :) (Timewaiter is also an acceptable term for those who follow Time...or used to, I guess...)

Blitzing is to read the whole thread from beginning to end (and to do it properly you can't really read anything at the end of the thread if you can help it). It's kind of like going back in time and reliving the OTC experience though the original posts. Because each frame of the OTC was posted in the thread you get to see it as well as all the speculation and analysis that went on after it's release.

Many Blitzers then post in the current end of the thread (future from their point of view) and tell us what they found back there and how they are going.

You take a body of text and for each word in that text you figure out what words come after it and how frequently. Then you create a new sentence by picking a word and rolling the dice to see what word comes next. Now you have a new word so you repeat until you feel like you've got a pretty good sentence!

So, for example, word in the above paragraph has the words "in", "and", "comes", and "so". If I started a Markov chain based on that paragraph and starting with "word" then it might read something like "Word in..." or "Word and...". Does that make sense?

You can also do Markov chains by looking at the most recent n words and picking the next word. The chains really start to play with your head when n is just two or three.

Minor rantpost: Now that Randall has made a blag post about Time, people keep saying, "That's why the ending was so rushed! The frames were taking over an hour to draw!" Has nobody pointed out the backwardness of this reasoning?

You're thinking as though Randall were making a movie or a TV series. "Sorry, Mr. Munroe; Time didn't get renewed. You've got two episodes left to wrap everything up." You're forgetting: Randall was in complete control of the pace of Time.

If the workload was getting too heavy, then ending it quickly was the worst thing for Randall to do. Remember during "RUN", all the landscapes he skipped? All the landscapes he had already drawn? All he had to do was add a couple of running stick figures and there's another newpix of comic done. Or throw in a startled molpy (remember Lucky?) and there's two or three or four newpix. Mustard, we'd have watched that bucket bobbing on the sea for at least a dozen newpix.

Or he could have had Megball stop and look around, pointing the new sea level out to each other. How many earlier newpix were just Cueball saying "Yeah"? Or later, after the rescue, he could have left them bobbing on the sea, just the two of them on the upper deck, for Outside days; all he'd have had to do was shift the raft, draw a squiggly sea, and draw Megball being fidgety.

Nobody was telling Randall, "Now that they're rescued, you've got to draw forty people in every frame until the End of Time." He could have found a dozen ways to draw simple, quick frames, to slow down the pace, to give himself some breathing room. He might have grown tired of Time, but it's impossible that he couldn't keep up; he was racing no clock, following no rules, except his own storyline. If he ended Time in a rush, it's because he intended to all along.*

*Excepting, of course, the following possible scenario [inspired by someone's comment over the wipend]:
davean: You know that Time thread? It's getting big.
