Not if you have a competent admin.

You can't say 'x can easily be hacked' because it's all down to how it's setup, Linux is easily hacked too if the person setting it up doesn't know shit about security.

Which they probably don't, if they think using a Window$ server is a good idea.

No one can agree how to count how many types of people there are. You could ask two people and get 10 different answers.

Two words. Domain Controller.

A few more words. Samba was awful for that last time I tried it.

The only prankster (that I know of) that our school has expelled was a guy who set off a pipe bomb... near some kids. He also blew up half the school's ping pong equipment.

That's not a prank, it's terrorism.

lets see about competency...they leave all 6 wiring closets unlocked. but they have locks on them...they actually let us use liveCDs without supervision, accidentally formatted a computer that way  (someone asked me to format their flash drive, and I like GParted)...they used to leave the server room unlocked...the announcement system, roof access, and fiber lines all go through one unlocked, unsupervised room.

This isn't really a prank- but once in Middle School, the 8th graders had a huge food fight. Also, A bunch of rising Seniors brought nerf guns on the last Few days of School. Fun to watch them shoot at everyone.

Well if they secured their network then this wouldn't happen. If the copier is accessible by you when you pop in a LiveCD they can't say anything, because they've given you the means by not securing it down.

This was in college, but I was just out of high school, so it almost counts.

I was in a sorority dorm, next to a boy's dorm. It was Christmas. On a dark weekend evening, a couple friends and I had just returned from buying a wonderful, tall Christmas tree, which we left outside on the entryway, outside out second floor door, as we located the tree stand.

When we returned, maybe 10 minutes later, the tree had disappeared.

But, lucky for us, we were in Arizona, where Christmas trees dry out about as fast as moths attracted to a campfire. There were needles on the ground, heading a new direction. "Let's follow the needles," I suggested.

We did. They led us to the boy's dorm, of course. Into the elevator. We had to stop at each floor to find the one with the needles. Found them on the fifth.

Followed the needles to the room and pounded self-righteously on the door. No answer.

We went down the hall looking for open rooms and found a party in progress. Because of the strange star-shape of the building, we could actually see into the tree room from the party room. There was OUR leaning against the wall.

I climbed out the window of the party room and walked along the 5th floor ledge to the room of our missing tree. The window was open, so I climbed in - shaking.

I opened the door. My friends rushed in. We picked up the tree and retraced the path of the thieves. Back to our dorm and set up the tree.

Justified theft?

actually, my class was i the computer lab, since I was banned from the computers, I naturally sat at one of the broken computers to use my netbook, then pulled the ethernet out, and hooked it up to my netbook. the assistant principal walked by 3-4 times without noticing.

also, huge copier is huge... it had a huge freestanding center unit, and it had the standard finisher, and a large 5-ream external paper feed. and its somewhere from the xerox workforce series, and it costs $17,000 without the paper feeder and the finisher, both of which were likely severely overpriced...

that and ubuntu's find network printer function found all the printers on the network...

don't print shit just for the heck of it, hintss. Toner is fucking expensive, and schools don't actually have very deep pockets. Some things are funny. some aren't. printing off lots of stuff needlessly is one of the things that isn't.

who said that I did print anything besides the test page, which was by accident?

and yes toner is expensive

also, the stapler/hole punch part of the finished unit breaks every 2 weeks or so, and they need to get a xerox guy to fix it...

also, they claimed to use MAC filtering and static IPs on the ethernet. I guess they didn't work, case I connected, and there apparently was a DHCP server left on...

I still don't ee why they need to order new color toner every year if no ones allowed to print in color on it...

because the school has 1 color dell printer, 2 HP B&W printers, and 6 Dell B&W printers, along with 2 or 3 non-networked printers, 2 or 3 non-networked copiers, and the xerox copier...

Oh you're so edgy and cool, hintss, with your abuse of first-letter-of-a-sentence-capitalisation and evil smily faces when you think of wasting the money of others. Your habit of making posts with great relevance to the thread and those which say lots but have no real point are also fascinating. If you cannot tell the tone of this post so far, then I guess I (or someone else with more than 2 brain cells to rub together) can elucidate.

Prank-wise, many a time in the workshop someone has been shocked by a metal bin lid being dropped behind them. And once or twice I have either helped in locking someone inside the plane, or been locked inside the plane. Well, it's not really locking, just a minor inconvenience, but it's still fun...
Anything I said pre-2014 that you want to quote me on, just run it past me to check I still agree with myself.

If I link my school's contact page from here, they'll get slightly more spam!

and yes, they fail at site layout, but I couldn't match them with design.

also, running a bad-link-checker on it gives somewhere around 1,000

and I only get SLIGHTLY more spam from posting my email on the fora...
and my school was already findable by clicking several links...

And they could quite easily find you on here now.

And considering keylogging not only opens up access to their school accounts, it could open up access to other accounts like Facebook, even Paypal, I'm entirely glad you've been permabanned, you're not a fun hacker even, you just do it for the sake of being malicious, if you're going to hack you do it for kicks, like I said changing every filename to bob1, bob2, bob3, etc... or Raptor Jesus and spaghetti monster in the RE folder. I'd hardly call Outlook overactive either, I had daily viagra spam till Virgin Media switched to Gmail as their email hosting service.

And yes, we are probably the kind of people who would tell your school on the basis of you being malicious without reason, hell if I lived nearby I'd ask if they're looking for a new admin to replace what sounds like an incredibly insecure batch of script kiddies. =P

and I was being malicious how, again?

logout batch files have a use, my paragraphs long transcription of a video, with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation got marked as spam, its probably just my address, and today was graduation :D, they lended me a manual to the library system, which just happened to have the passwords inside, which I used to change my friend's nickname on the system to squirrel (he likes squirrels), and the time I got in trouble before the permaban was april fools day last year. People should learn not to run something called "april fools.bat", especially on april fools day...

BTW, april fools.bat

Code: Select all

@echo off
:start
msg * april fools!
time 12:00
goto start

the school used NTP, so the time wasn't really effected, and it only required a reboot...

Our head of sixth form is well known for being even more right wing than is typical in our town - which is one of the most conservative in the country, and near to one of the constituencies which has a partially BNP council. He's leaving this year, so the year thirteens covered the sixth form centre with Soviet flags, and declared it the People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road [Insert School Name Here]. They also held his chair hostage, and replaced it with a fluffy pink one. In return the teachers said that they would hold their exam certificates hostage when they got them. The chair was returned, but the communist republic stayed.

Our school has a CCTV system over which the announcements are broadcast every week. These announcements are pre-recorded, and entirely handled by one teacher. I am friends with said teacher and am allowed to use his computer, etc. I also have near-free reign over the TV studio... You can see where this is going.

(Does anybody have a high-definition version of Never Gonna Give You Up that they could share?)

Also, I plan to enlist several friends and build cinder block walls around the cars of the faculty, using quick-setting mortar; along with the usual gelatine in the toilets, bubble bath in the sinks, etc.

Good thing I have two years to prepare.
My signature contains forty-four characters.

don't know where else this goes: my signature in people's yearbooks this year was a shell script/batch file (depending on the person). both ended with a line to delete everything, and I warned people not to run it because "it make computer go boom  "

someone run it anyway...
