How long has it been, Andy is approximately the same age as we are, and were. I find this amusing.

On the one hand, it's Pixar and Toy Story, and you can't get much better than that.

On the other, great (or even good) third films in a series can be counted on one hand just about.

Fingers crossed!

Toy Story 2 was okay!

Well, no, I actually liked Toy Story 2 better than the first movie. I'm watching this.

Also curious here. I'm glad they've moved the time forward. They also seem to have gotten a lot better at human faces :)

I was obsessed with Toy Story, and even I liked the sequel better. I'm highly optimistic. Though, it might be odd seeing it in English. Toy Story belongs to that random scattering of animated movies that were better when dubbed into Swedish. Like Aladdin.

Thanks for posting the trailer! I think anybody with a clue is excited about this, though the teaser was bad enough to taint my initial impression. Just terrible.

I was looking forward to this... But to be honest, I only enjoyed the first half of the trailer. I thought it was going to be more about the toys AND Andy, not just the toys. Sending them to a daycare and turning Buzz into a Spaniard is kind of... drag.

Still gonna see the movie, I just hope it's better than the second half of the trailer.

I'm kinda depressed right now, in case you haven't already noticed.

I just came back from Toy Story 3!

I laughed out loud many times during the movie, from the first minutes to the credits. It was really very good. There's a Japanese toy in it which I was VERY excited about:
Spoiler:
Totoro! :D

They managed to make some new memorable characters and very good use of the existing ones. The opening movie is excellent! Don't miss it, it's one of the most fucked up and awesome and creative things Pixar have done.
The 3D didn't contribute much IMO, but there was no option to see it in 2D here (only in Hebrew, I suppose so parents don't have to pay as much when they bring kids with them?). It was also a bit on the long side, but not too much. There were some very creepy and/or scary parts in it - I'm guessing some small children will cry during parts of the movie.

Also (very mild spoilers), I thought it would have been hideously hilarious if they finished the movie with the:
Spoiler:
burner scene.
Mighty Jalapeno: "See, Zohar agrees, and he's nice to people."
SecondTalon: "Still better looking than Jesus."

Not how I say my name

Toy Story 3 was pretty excellent. It's not perfect by any means--there's a little too much sequelitis (references to previous jokes, etc.) for my taste, and the villain especially is pretty much a straight-up clone of the one from Toy Story 2. On the other hand, it's a wonderful tale about mortality (and its twin, leaving childhood behind) that was exciting, funny, very well-animated, and extremely moving, especially at the end.

3-D didn't add a damn thing, of course, but it makes the (excellent) short subject possible, so go for it.

All in all, this is a really nice trilogy that displays more than anything else the leaps and bounds by which Pixar has grown, from the innovation, fast-moving entertainment, and broadly relevant themes of the first, to the second film, wherein Pixar made a commitment to quality at any cost*, and deepened the emotional impact of the story, to the third, which mixes excellent entertainment with powerful and deeply moving ideas behind it in the same way that their recent films have excelled at doing.

*Toy Story 2 was originally going to be a direct-to-DVD movie (Disney's business model), and then they decided to make it a theatrical release; but 9 months away from the hard release date, they realized the movie just wasn't working. They could have said, "Well, you win some, you lose some," and shipped it out and tried to do better next time; instead, they shut down the project, retooled, stopped all the other productions and put the entire company on it, and fixed the movie. Any other studio would have said, "We don't have the budget for this." Pixar said, "We put out our best work. Period." And that attitude has served them ever since.

Toy Story 3, wow. I just got back from it. First of all, yes, hilarious and wonderful. Second of all, yes, crazy sad and tearjerking. My eyes watered multiple times, I won't lie. I maybe shouldn't have seen this the same day I enrolled for college classes...but this movie had more emotional impact on me than anything I've seen in a long time.

That movie was amazing. I'm a year too young to match up with it exactly, but it still resounded with me and such. Some very funny parts, but all in all incredibly sweet. So yeah. Fantastic. Pixar is god.

Another amazing Pixar movie! (Will they ever make a bad one...the answer is no.)

Thoroughly enjoyed Toy Story 3, I recommend to everyone person to go see it! Loved the whole escape sequence, excellently done.

P.S the short at the start is amazing! So cute and so well done!

*Sobs*

Amazing end (I think) to an excellent series.

Some parts were predictable but the ending had be bawling like a baby.

Other parts had be really pissed off. :x

Spoiler:
That bear got off way too easy if you ask me.

Ken and Barbie really made an excellent couple.

I just LOVED Toy Story 3.

Oddly enough, when it ended, I didn't feel as sad or as rotten as I did with Avatar.

Felt pretty happy.

On another note? Toddlers are really frightening.

Toy Story 2 is my favorite Disney-affiliated movie, so I would have been HUGELY disappointed if this let me down. It didn't. The animation was wonderful again, the story was good (not as good as TS2, but still good). I wish they'd had a horribly heartbreaking part like the "When she loved me" scene in TS2. I also think the Buzz/Jessie thing was way more in-your-face than it had to be. And I wish Disney would cut it out with the Latin stereotyping-- first Shrek, now this, and probably other things on the way as well.

Spoiler:
I don't even have words for the burner scene. It was so intense. I was just staring at it in horror, because I knew Disney/Pixar would never actually go through with it, yet it was such a "we have accepted our fate and now we are going to be obliterated" moment. I would love to see someone's reaction if the film really did just stop there.

I loved the scene where Andy plays with the toys with the little girl at the end, and doesn't want to give up Woody. There were a few spots in the film where everyone in the theater laughed, and one of them was where the little girl reached for Woody and Andy pulled him back. I was half expecting him to yell "No, bitch!"

What a phenomenal film. It's so rare that a studio can make three films in a series that are all on the same level of excellence, and Disney Pixar did just that with Toy Story. Seriously awesome, and fantastic. It's always fun to see Pixar's new film. I can't wait for the next one.

I was sooo sad that Pixar let me think that the preferred outcome for the toys:

the attic
would be so depressing, but then of course made it brilliant and awesome.

Not gonna lie, I shed like 3 completely manly tears.

May have been more than 3.

I had forgotten how well-cast these movies are. Wallace Shawn as a T-Rex is awesome!

Also loved the Gypsy Kings cover of "You've got a friend in me" at the end.

The Mr Potato Head scene (you know which one) made the entire theater, including myself, break out in hysterical laughter.

There were also some very creepy toys. They might have just been creepier because I'm older now though and have more hictchcock in me.

Overall I thought the movie was VERY well done, 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone else.

Barbie+ken was just awesome too, heh heh.

My dad totally cried. These movies always make me feel really bad about the toys I've left behind, and completely supports my paranoia that they miss me and oh my God how could I have abandoned Elliot?!?!

I really loved Barbies little shout out to freedom; "Governance should be decided by the governed not by those governing!" or something like that.

And that starting bump was genius and adorable. I applaud Pixar.
