Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of [ERROR SPOILER REDACTED]

One of the painful things about our time is that those who feel certainty are stupid, and those with any imagination and understanding are filled with doubt and indecision - BR

I'm super-excited for the movie, but I'm not sure how I feel about the title. It sounds like something chosen specifically for the purpose of sparking pre-release discussion, which I'm not completely wild about.

Yea, just as the title of VIII had everyone asking "Who is the last Jedi", this title will have people asking "which one? Aren't they all dead?"

And that laugh..

At first I thought the laugh sounded like Mark Hamill's Joker laugh, and I was thinking "evil force ghost Luke is the new villain? But isn't that also Luke calmly and compassionately narrating the whole thing?" I didn't recognize it as Palpatine until commenters on YouTube said as much.

There are still some folks around the traps saying it is Hamill.

But note that imdb lists Ian in the credits for this movie.

Also, I thought it was cute that they showed Kylo's helmet being welded..."yeah we're going to fix some of the things that got broken in TLJ"

I'm going with my headcanon from TFA, even though TLJ didn't go out of its way to enforce it.

They tend to be found in humble edge-of-existence circumstances on desert planets, it seems.

Strange, I recognized it immediately and I haven't seen RotS since it was first in the cinema.

As for the title, with JJ directing I wouldn't expect it to mean much at all. Honestly, has he ever made anything that had a satisfying conclusion which lived up to the buildup?

I'd argue those weren't a "real" trilogy in that you can watch them in any order without messing up anything. Besides the final one was the best but wasn't directed by JJ or written by JJ or any of his normal writing team so its just further (shaky) proof that JJ doesn't do satisfying conclusions to stories.

That's why I think the marketing for "the conclusion to the epic trilogy" is going to be total bs. I see no way JJ doesn't leave a dozen sequel hooks and three dozen mysterious hints of further mysteries.

IDKAT I mean the first one is clearly the first one. That's where the characters meet.
But you could swap 2 and 3 without any hassle.

Yeah I'll eat my hat if Disney doesn't keep pumping the Skywalker well until it's dusty.
