You dont really need to live near a person to play online! In fact I live in Hawaii, so the ping between myself and anyone in Cali should be outstanding.

Heres my Brawl Code

... not wifi.

Ok let me preface that: I actually play in tourneys in Northern California. I can't play on wifi at all. Seriously. The lag just... murders me, especially since I'm a Falco player. I'm not quite good enough to get the timing down in a laggy environment, and I've had shit lag with people from San Fran.

Also I don't own a copy of the game :D But I'll try to catch you sometime soon.

Ah I see. My only internet experience with it has been with people I know on the island, so withing 80 or so miles. I havent had any lag at all with that.

yeah. I wish we'd get some federal cabling so we can have the bandwidth we need in this country.

But it's also very true that wifi screws with the timing on a lot of characters. A good example is when SK92 faced off against Ally. Ally lives in Canada while SK is in Nevada. Normally Falco gets a chaingrab on snake, but if it's not perfectly timed snake can pull a grenade to stop it. SK, one of the best falco players in the world, was unable to chaingrab ally more than twice in a row.

What are you talking about? Lucas is an awesome character! his PK thunder and PK fire are better than Ness's, his up-A hold attack is an easy overkill move, and his final smash is devastating in small-moderate sized arenas.

Lucas is better than Ness, for sure, but his PK fire is an 'ok' projectile and doesn't compare to Pit, Falco, Sheik, or anyone else with a chargable projectile (except Samus). PK Thunder is... ok. Not as gimpable as Ness (seriously...), and his usmash, while good, is hard to hit with with its startup lag.

Plus his range is pretty low. His arials are hard hitting but with low range and low priority, and he just generally suffers from high-lag moves (dsmash and usmash for example).

And he's infinite chain-release-grabbed by a bunch of characters.

Ganon is second worse (second to Captain Falcon) and Lucario is pretty high. My friend plays a mean lucario, and jab->jab->forcepalm is a pita.

Ganondorf's Utilt seems like something straight out of DragonBall Z. Only way weaker.

I've been playing the 64 version and have come to the conclusion that kirby is the best character in it. Pokemon stadium, get them near the helipad and down A them to hell. Also solves the problem of not being able to down A a mario (normally mario would up b and kirby's down A is wrecked by that), but on the helipad, he he can't recover so he daren't use it.

Pikachu is generally considered the best because his up-b has ridiculous potential. Go check out some of Isai's vids on youtube :D

Kirby's rockin' too though.

I always forget that many some characters have charged attacks in SSBB, such as Pikachu's horizonal+b move.

No, his Utilt. He sticks his leg in the air, then slams it down in a huge explosion 10 minutes later.

Is Dedede considered a bad character? I do pretty well with everyone else (even Ganondorf), but Dedede just doesn't seem to control right.

Dedede is 4th best. He's amazing with his projectiles, I love his throws and he can kill at ridiculously low percentages.

Dedede's ok, you just need to watch out to ensure you don't accidentally up-b off the stage.

Re: Super Smash Bros.

Postby superglucose » Sat Mar 21, 2009 11:35 pm UTC

DeDeDe is VERY good.

1) a lot of characters can be chaingrabbed by DeDeDe. To do this, you down throw, dash forward, and grab them again. Notable characters that can be chain grabbed this way: ROB, Donkey Kong, and Snake. That's just off the top of my head. Plus his other throws are really good too.

2) His bair is scary good... as is his uair and dair. Try short hopping (hitting the jump button lightly) and moving forward while csticking down. Also you can jump off the ledge and use the fair to push people further off the stage. Since you have a lot of jumps as DeDeDe you can always get back :D This is called a Wall of Pain.

3) His tilts... oh my god the tilts. His dtilt is strong and really quick, his ftilt has crazy, crazy range, and his utilt is more powerful than snake's utilt.

4) His dsmash and usmash are pretty solid, and his fsmash, while slow, has good enough range that you can use it to edge guard pretty well.

DeDeDe is one of my least favorite characters to face off against... that range is just so... scary. Plus his projectiles are decent to fantastic, if you throw a spike.

He likes stages with walls. In fact, a lot of stages with vertical walls have been banned because of DeDeDe. Other than that, long and flat, such as Smashville or Final D. He doesn't mind Battlefield, but he should avoid stages like Lylat Cruise. His recovery means that he's not that bad on any of the stages, but his best are Final D and Smashville.

P.S. if you ever face off against a falco, ban Jungle Japes and take him to Lylat Cruise.

Does anyone else find it harder to down-a people off an edge in brawl when compared to the N64 version?
Also, I just played a game with friends and somehow, every single one of ganon's super punches managed to hit me. Despite several times me not even being near him when he starts the move. Damn. Kirby just dies against it.

I find spiking fairly easy, but that's because it's my preferred mode of execution. And I'm Diddy, who has three spikes and so basically can come at you from any direction.

I pretty much never spiked in N64.

I second that. Especially since if you side-b off the edge with any of the Star-fox crew, or up-b off the edge, you are toast. Same with King dedede's up-b

Hey just a couple days ago I pulled off my first succesful bair ledgeguard with Falco.

But as for spiking, I can only think of one spike in SSB64, and that's ness' dair. In Brawl I find it quite easy... maybe not as easy as it was in Melee, but I land Falco's spike pretty much of the time.

That's odd, because Kirby, Samus, Captain Falcon, and I think Donkey Kong also had spikes.
