Doesn't the Pikachu Down Smash work for that anymore?

I wish they hadn't gotten rid of personalized target smashes for each character. Those were like exercises in effective level design.
It also seems like the game doesn't realize what a self-destruct is. Like if I hit Wario, and then he gets up, and walks right into the chimera on Pork City, it registers as a kill for me.
Also, WHAT THE CRAP HAPPENED TO PIKACHU'S FEDORA?!!?!

Besides that, the game seems just about perfect.

nightwing2024 wrote:Don't use it on the cruel brawl kills. Trust me.

You have Jigglypuff? Then you can do it. Just get to the edge, then drop down and keep going back and forth underneath the stage. JP can do it in 3 jumps, especially if you side B after each jump. The alloys will eventually kill themselves. I got 37 this way, so I know it'll work for you. Just be careful and make sure not to go above the edge.

Oh man, of course. I figured this out and tried to do it with Captain Falcon. Jigglypuff makes a lot more sense.

The reason it registers that is that the last person to cause damage to a character before he/she dies, gets the kill. It's to prevent people from just jumping of the edge in time battles to lose a point rather than two in a KO.

But SDs are set to -1 by default, which is the same as being KO'd.

On the bright side, it forces the game into showing me as being a paragon of non-SD-ness.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but while SDs are -1, aren't KOs -1 for the KO'd, and +1 for the KOee?

That's correct, though the "KO'd" is grammatically the same person as the "KOee." The person who would get +1 would be the "KOer," i.e. the person who does the KOing.

What I meant was that in Melee, if you simply jumped off the edge, you'd only lose 1 point.

Whereas if you get KO'd, you lose 1 point, and the other person gains a point, therefore its a 2 point swing.

Brawl set out to stop that practice. Now, the last person to damage you before you die gets KO credit.

But... can't you change that?
I'm pretty sure in Melee at least, you could make SDs -2 for the KO'd.

Haha! This is great. It's no coincidences that my mains are Wario, Captain Falcon, and King Dedede. Though I love getting strategic with Wario and Falcon. Side-B then Up-B and pummel them with Falcon. Make good use of Wario's Hog and use the Atomic Fart whenever possible.

I too am probably guilty of being the right-hand side version. Some characters I button-bash with and just hammer the insta-kill shots, others I act semi-strategic and elegant with but I'm not that great. I'm especially guilty of this when it comes to Soul Calibur II. I usually went for 'Charade', who I learnt was supposed to be the hardest as it was essentially randomising all options, but somehow button-mashing with him was pretty effective, to the distaste of my opponent.

OT: What are some good RL taunts to use as Lucas? My friend (an Ike main) likes saying that he fights for his friends, but Lucas doesn't have any lines other than PK <Freeze/Fire/Thunder/Starstorm> to take advantage of. Halp?

I burst out laughing every time Ike says "I fight for my friends." Such bad voice acting. Especially because the tone he says it in always conjures up a ^_______^ expression.

But this is pre-match. As in, on the character select screen. Or randomly in conversation when Smash Bros. comes up.

On the topic of voice acting, I found Pit's to be the worst. e sounds like a ten-year-old girl.

Pit and Pokemon Trainer both sound like prepubescent little kids on XBox Live. Ike's voice actor sounds half-asleep. Ivysaur sounds like a pokemon mouthing words and someone offscreen doing a ventriloquism act.

I already use that as a placeholder, and while my Lucas (and Ness, I guess) impersonations are improving, it's not really...a taunt. (Though as I tend to snag the Smash Ball from under Ike's nose, my friend certainly hears it enough to be irritated by it...I feel like I'm repeating myself here. <_<) What I'm looking for is something along the lines of the PK Win suggestion.

EDIT: I just realized that I'm a) asking for taunt suggestions and b) possibly being choosy about them, c) ON THE INTERNET.

*looks for missing life*

*after getting a suggestion I like*

In Sonic's defense, taunts are supposed to annoy and hearing "you're too slow!" makes me want to kill. I believe they did a pretty good job there.
