So, what's the roster like? henre, bigglesworth, Soralin, Vaniver, Mighty Jalapeno, Nachtjager, and Jessica?

I'd recommend splitting up into two groups- supposedly the optimal number for a PBEM is around 4, and we can also include Phen, bigstrat, and Kizyr that way. It might also be easier to synch up time zones.

I'm in the Eastern Time Zone, which is currently UTC -4.

I'm up for either, but if at least three people are interested I'll start a SMAC game.

I don't have SMAC, I have Civ4 and all expansions.

Also, EST.

I've got CivIV with Warlords and BotS. If I could get my hands on SMAC I would love to play that as well.

I have all of the above (SMAC, Civ4+expansions).

I'd be up for any of them, but I agree with Vaniver on 4 being about the optimal limit. I'll come in to balance a game up to 4, but otherwise I don't mind sitting out. KF

I'm fine not playing if you need it to be 4.

This is the setup I'm seeing at the moment:

SMAC: Vaniver, Mighty Jalapeno, Kizyr
Civ4: henre, bigglesworth, Soralin, Nachtjager, possibly Jessica

Anyone else want to join the SMAC game or should we three start up one? (are you guys interested in doing one with three people?)

I'm still fine with not playing if you need it to be 4. I can play another time.

Can you add in computer opponents?
...wait, no, that might not be as good an idea.

But I think I'd be fine with a 3-player game, with a medium-sized map.

Jessica wrote:I'm still fine with not playing if you need it to be 4. I can play another time.

Well, the reason I offered to drop is because I'm already in the other Civ4 PBEM game going on (the massive 7-player round-the-world one, though our New Zealander dropped). It'd make sense for me to drop from a second game so that someone who wasn't currently engaged in one would have a chance to play.

Although, since it looks like things are falling into place for me to be in a SMAC game instead, it doesn't seem necessary for either of us to drop. KF

There are two options- CMN the game (which means, go in with the scenario editor, delete the NPCs, and place us in non-random starting places), or start a normal game (with 4 NPCs). I prefer CMNing, especially since it allows us to do something like all have the same continent, rather than one person get crippled by a poor starting position.

Let Jessica play. Five people on a Small map will work admirably.

And let everyone learn from my mistake: set the roster up according to time zones, otherwise it will take you months to even get to the Classical era. :P

Better than time zones, have each person select a window in UTC of when they'll be able to take their turn, and organize it based off that.

Count me in for a game of Alpha Centauri! I haven't played a multiplayer game in years and would love it give it a go. I'm in the Pacific time zone and definitely available after 6pm pst weekdays and can make most times work during the weekends. I can also probably squeeze in a few rounds just about any time after 10am weekdays.

Can I please have the following:
-headcount on players for second Vanilla Civ IV game
-times in GMT that you'd typically be able to play (let's aim for two turns per day)
-civ/leader, and your preference for map and settings

I'm in, but like Kizyr I'll drop if it means someone who's not playing yet can have a chance. I'll play as Hatshepsut of Egypt. I vote for all standard settings, and a Continents or Archipelago map of appropriate size with low sea level. I can put in a turn around 15.00 GMT and 21.30 GMT every day.

*counts* I have one head.
-times in GMT that you'd typically be able to play (let's aim for two turns per day)

I should be available most of the time in the 05:00-16:00 GMT range or so, maybe a bit earlier or later (later more often it seems given the time that I'm posting this).
-civ/leader

Hmm, let's go with Catherine of Russia for this one.
and your preference for map and settings

Anything works for me.

Hi there, I'm new here.

I'm up for both SMAC and Civ4, I have a ripped version of SMAC came out along with some old old magazine ( not sure if it's compatible with retail one ) and Civ4 with expansions.

My timezone is GTM+1 and I'm usually free after 15:00 / 16:00.

If you need to contact me send a PM, I have msn, google and skype and I won't write account details in my profile ( email is disabled as well ).

Hey! I registered just to post in this thread too, and I'm still dead serious about getting an old-school multiplayer Alpha Centauri game off the ground. So, if anyone would like to play a game, lets organize one! I'm in the pacific time zone and am pretty flexible with times.
