I'm usually on the Mono types, though which difficulty I play depends on what I feel like for that particular song.

I have a very short version of Sandstorm which is entirely red/orange after the beginning. globe's "genesis of next" is similar.

I just downloaded the demo, and I think my controls are messed up. The mouse does nothing, and the arrow keys move seemingly randomly. They don't even always move in the same direction! I can be in the left lane, hit left, and end up in the right lane. And when I let go, I'm almost always returned to the lane I started from, but not always.

Anyone else have this problem? (Or is it supposed to be like this)

Do you have a game controller plugged in? Like perhaps a guitar hero controller? The mouse/kb controls do strange things when you do, as I spent about an hour figuring out...

Someone play 2 nickelback songs and see if the tracks look similar. So we can find out once and for all.

Heh, no problem. That was a very frustrating hour...

I played the demo, it worked fine, then later when I was in my room and everything was hooked up I bought the game and it suddenly didn't work any more.

Play "Chemical Brothers - Star Guitar Remix" on Ninja Mono Elite + Iron mode, its the fastest and most congested song I've found so far :)

Fun game. Time warp was a lot of fun, as was dark of the matinee.
Schadenfreude was also a lot of fun. Internet is for porns too slow.

I'll probably never get really good at the game, as I don't want to listen to the same song over and over again to perfect it.

Replace "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" with "Pinta, Nina, Santa Maria (Into Eternity)." Also, add in I hate them for not giving me Stealth Master for it.

I've never used the game that way. I've always used it as a way to listen to the music...not a competitive thing.

I just got the game myself and mainly play it for fun.

Though I do take perverse pride in holding the world record for a particular song by default (an example would be the GHIII version of The Devil Went Down To Georgia).

Are there any other long (as in 10+ minute) songs people can recommend? So far, I've had the most fun with "The Poet And The Pendulum" by Nightwish.

Annoying fact: apparently the game won't let you play tracks that are longer than 30 minutes or something around there :?.

I thought I tried a 15 minute song and had it not work. Maybe it depends how busy the song is too.

Since I just have a demo of AS, I just reinstall it every time I want to play. That's only good for one music file, so I figured I'd use Audacity to concatenate 4 or 5 different songs together.

It took my little laptop a while but after ~12 minutes I had a twenty minute mp3 I called 'surfCat' that I asked AS to play. Then it told me it was too long. I can't believe they would cheat me out of the hard work I go through to play their game for free.

EDIT: Oh me yarm I just realized that this game is Car Dancing.

Ok, so I skipped the demo and just bought the game...holy fuck, this is innovation at some of its finest. I'm addicted, but the most fun so far has been "Saeglopur" by Sigur Ros. It has lots of twists and turns, it's not just up-and-down, plus the song is epic in and of itself. If anyone wants it, just PM me and I'll give you a link.

But yeah, this is an amazingly fun and addicting game. I recommend it to everybody.

:( This game doesn't work on Windows 2000.

I find it ironic that it can run on Linux (Under WINE) but not on an older version of Windows.

I'm pretty sure it yelled at me for having a song with a really long title... that might be it. (the song wasn't particularly long, and it said it wouldn't run it.)

I played through the ending theme from Final Fantasy VI (21:35) without issue.. though I hit my first grey brick in the last minute of it. :x

Any opinion on the changes to scoring? Mono characters can suddenly do a lot better than before, which I suppose is good for me.

You guys need to try Echoes...

Actually, with the psychedelic color background, audiosurf is great for Pink Floyd. Do DSOTM all in a row, that's fun too.

Mono still scores way to low. I did a song around 3 times with Ninja Mono and then I did it once with Eraser and I had double my Mono score. They should award Mono combo's more, if you ask me.

Anyone know of a good place I can get a hold of some FLAC music? Preferably under the category of both free and legal. I was going to experiment with just how much a difference things like codec and bit rate make in how the track was generated. I saw a terribly disturbing level of difference between 256 kbps AAC, 128 kbps AAC, and 128kbps MP3. One version of the track was pretty much flipped over the X axis. But since the 128's were created from a previous lossy file (the 256 version), I'm thinking there is some potential there for my data to have been skewed a bit.

Yeah, I know, that was the most random thread necro ever. (Now watch as someone proves me wrong in 5 or fewer posts)

After some inventive googling, I found something that might interest you: The Smashing Pumpkins, live, in various formats it seems. Your search criteria is rather restrictive (Free, legal, and in decent quality, that is), so this Is the best I could come up with.

No, legal is the only one that's a requirement for this thread.

EDIT: Anyway, as for some results. I've noticed that lower bit rates tended towards less traffic. And MP3's had less traffic than AACs. No absurd changes to the track shape this time around (I'm going to go with that being a lossy->lossy thing).

Favorite Audiosurf tracks?

Postby ArgonV » Fri Mar 13, 2009 8:34 pm UTC

Anyone here known the game Audiosurf? If so, what are your favorite songs? I'm looking for some good tunes to play the game on. Here are some of my favorites:

Red Alert 3 - How the West Was Won - Need I say anything?
Aux Raus - Fall - This one even has a corkscrew
SSBB - Tetris Type A - The part with the piano and violin is brilliant in game
Pink Floyd - One of these days - The first part lulls you into a fake sense of safety
You Say Party! We Say Die! - Like I give a care - Video quality is crappy, mp3 is much better

Out of curiosity, I just tried to load In C (76:19) and Audiosurf says it's too long. A couple of tracks from Einstein on the Beach that are around 20 minutes long work just fine, though. That entire opera would be a fun marathon challenge.
