XKCD Postcard exchange 2012

Postby blue_eyedspacemonkey » Sat Apr 14, 2012 6:14 pm UTC

There's an old thread for this here but after talking to a mod, I'm making a new one.

So. Do you want to receive an actual postcard, sent by actual snail mail, from people from the Internetz? If so, this is the thread for you!

This is how I propose this works. If you want to send postcards post here with how many postcards you're willing to send (if you have a limit), and if you're willing to post internationally (if not, include the country you're in, so only people in that country can contact you). Then PMs can be sent, and let the exchanging commence!

I'll throw my name into the ring.

I'll be making mine (taking photos of Manchester, and getting them printed), so it might take a week or so before I can send them out. I'm willing to post internationally.

Lemme get this straight:

1) I post here saying "Yes postcards, yes international, maybe five or so"
2) People pm me and ask for my address so they can send me cards, and I pm others likewise?
Or do we:
2a) Arrange to postcard each other?
3) Also, I guess we could say things like "weird and/or tasteless/funny postcards OK"? Or not.

Man, I'm rubbish at explaining things.

Erm arrange to postcard each other? The way the other one worked was, people said they were willing to send out postcards, or wanted to receive postcards, and then PMs were exchanged, and arranged as the individuals wanted? Does that make sense?

And yeah, say if you're willing to have wacky/from the internet! postcards

All righty then.

Yes postcards, yes international, maybe five or so before I run out of steam.

Not many people know me round here, but I would be willing to send postcards.

Any kind you like really, I don't think they're all to expensive, I'm in sunny Florida.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm actually interested in seeing postcards people received. Anyone want to post it up?

I don't have funny postcard, just landscape, flowers, and random things. You can convert pictures into postcard right? If anyone want one, pm me your address.

Spoiler:
mod is probably going to tag me as suspicious since I'm telling people to send me your address in my first post. Lolz, but since I already thought of this, and still do it, are you still going to tag me as suspicious?

I apologize everyone. I have been frustratingly low on time to spend finding postcards. School is getting hectic and stressful and it's eating away my time.

Once I have everything handled I will get postcards out.

I'm going to bump this, because now I'm not moving in like a week and can totally participate, as long as people don't mind if postcards are really just 4x6" photos with my chickenscratch on the back.

Also, international is fine, and possibly somewhat cooler.

My son (age 8) is insanely curious about the big world around him right now. We have signed up for postcrossing.com and intpostage.com, but I know he would adore postcards from anywhere and everywhere. I would prefer if the postcards were family friendly. Thanks :)

Send me an address, and I will send you ours, and you can make a little boy's day.
