Crochet is that loose knitting you do with a hook.

I think that's what I want to do, make things. Less that I want to do the work behind sewing.

I really need to put more effort into my creative life. I need to code more, edit my novel... uh... do other things.
damn.

If you like crocheting, you may also like knitting (note: I may be biased; I know how to do basic knitting, but have forgotten how to crochet something like four or five times). I also enjoy spinning and weaving, though weaving requires a rather larger investment. Bonus points if you can knit/crochet/weave the thread you spin. 8)

SUPER bonus points for anyone who can knit/crochet/weave this type of thread.

I really enjoy hand sewing, but I always feel really stupid sewing thing by hand which I could sew so much faster by machine. And the repairs that you can't do by machine - the ones with with really thick fabric or in the middle of sleeves - aren't much fun at all.

what, crochet/knit/weave a thread thats girly, confusing, a little messy and entirely convoluted? i can do that. playing with yarn is what i DO. you want that in crochet or knit? i've got a lot of scraps laying around... this is going to be interesting.

did you want that crochet, knit or a combination? i cant weave yet... no loom and i havent learned card weaving.

I was thinking more "digital and stored on a server far away" but "girly, confusing, messy and convoluted" works too.

Ah.. seeing how the man thread is currently about bacon, and which character is the most manly, and the girl thread is about crocheting and weaving was such a perfect thing to wake up to.

So if I were to knit something out of bacon, which thread would it go in?

Something about uterine chunks
Who are you and who am I
To say we know the reason why?
Some are born; some men die
Beneath one infinite sky.
There'll be war, there'll be peace.
But everything one day will cease.
All the iron turned to rust;
All the proud men turned to dust.

Steampunk Nerf guns? Knitting? I fail to see how this is girly. Perhaps a renewed discussion on chunks is in order.

Ok, in the interest of bringing the girly grossness back to the thread, I shall whine a bit. I don't have anything to say that is new or noteworthy, just the routine whining.
It is girlweek, and it's kicking my ass. My lower back hurts, I feel bloated, my skin is sensitive, I have cramps that are dull but persistent and sending pain down my thighs. For some reason I feel them every once in a while in my wrists too. Thanks to the Nuvaring, there will only be a day or two of this left, but man! This is a flawed system. Evolutionarily speaking, shouldn't we not gush blood. Wouldn't that attract predators?
For extra grossness, I will leave you with this gem from the boyfriend: "I am sorry you have to birth a mass of fleshpudding."
"A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for."

I was talking to some male friends earlier about how eggs are still (kinda) vegetarian. The argument was that you're still killing an animal. I mentioned that the eggs we eat aren't fertilized. So the resulting response was: "So, it's like the difference between menstruating and abortion in relation to murder."

My brain is kinda grossed out by the idea of comparing menstruating and eggs.

I went to a coffee shop today to drink tea and read a book. I'd have fit in better if I was knitting or crocheting though. Apparently that's the thing to do on the weekends.

In other girlyness, I have new shoes! I got a pair of tap shoes and a pair of Sketchers maryjanes. Both of them in my actual size! I've been doing really well on my resolution to only buy shoes that come in wide now that I'm making money for a change, instead of buying cheap things that sort of fit by getting half a size bigger for added width and sticking a squishy thing in the back of the heel to make them short enough not to give me huge blisters.

Here in Florida, we don't need winter boots, and it's grand. I wear sandals and flats aaaaaalll year long!

You do see people wearing knee-high leather boots (because that's in style atm) and Uggs, though... I think that those people are fooling themselves. ;) 50 degrees is chilly, but it's not cold.

50 degrees is a shorts-and-tee-shirt-day here
In fact, I would consider 12 Celsius as "balmy"
Minus 14C is par for the course.

I was going to post my reaction to the word "fleshpudding", but I abstain.
