Posting on behalf of my daughter:

Poppy: I had a dream last night where the world's most popular sport was falling forwards.
Me: What, like... just falling over?
Poppy: No, falling forwards off of a platform. You had to stay perfectly absolutely still the whole way down.
Me: So you just fall face-first?
Poppy: No, you fall, like, five hundred feet.
Me: Oh, wow, so I guess at that point the winner is just whoever survives.
Poppy: No, they always die. I was the champ.
Me: ... yay?
Poppy: No, Dad.

Cluttering Thread avoided with Spoiler
(Shrug) It may not be a Dream.
Spoiler:
It must be a dream.
It seems like a memory.

It’s like remembering something that does not fit well enough into the Rest of the Story.

I walk across pennyroyal.
The sent of it gets on my foots and on my long skirts.

The accompanying feeling is, “I’m Home.”

I have duties and responsibilities.
I respect and am respected in return.

There is Love.
I’m Home.
It’s Safe.

If I stop and look up to where I’m going;
It’s a lovely view.

A modest low building glowing almost butter yellow from the Kitchen.
We will meet there.

Where was I before I was walking Home?

See?
It must be a Dream and not a Memory.

If it were a Memory, I would be able to fit that moment into the rest of my life story.
I can’t.

It, just, seems so real.
Life is, just, an exchange of electrons; It is up to us to give it meaning.

Some of us see The Stars.

This morning's dream was blessed with the presence of hardcore punk band Spiteful Urinator. They were the kings of a block-shaped squat building decorated with memories of their illustrious career through many lineup changes. They won a big trophy playing some gig at Vector Arena where the stage was a wrestling ring with appropriate cage. The dream then changed to a weaponised wrestling match held in the kitchen and living area of my childhood home. It was a 3-way match between The Giant/Big Show, some regular-sized dweeb, and racing car driver Tim Slade who'd animorphed into a python. I must've been the referee because I was getting right in there. Tim the Snake sliced across my forehead with piano wire, leaving a long flap of oddly thick skin dangling. It hardly bled at all and I carefully fitted it back into place. The dweeb nicked me on the chin with his knife as he stabbed Big Show. Big Show pulled out a bigger knife and stabbed him back, leaving Tim as the winner. My dream self fell unconscious and I had an in-dream out-of-body experience where my eyes were really huge. I held up my eyelid and saw a piece of lint on the underside that'd supposedly caused the itchy eye I had before I went to sleep, so tried to coax it out with my finger. The dream moved on to a story about a couple of astronaut trainees who'd fallen ill and would thus never graduate. I was amongst people visiting them in hospital. One guy was the colour of piss and about to die from liver failure. The other sick guy was silently stewing because everyone brought gifts for the dying guy and nothing for him.

Nobody's going to read this, but I basically fully transcribed the four most potent dreams I had and turned them into a story with just a minimum of extra work. Since I got banned for deleting the posts about those dreams (along with every other post I made), I might as well "replace" them. Link

Also, if a mod could change my name I'd appreciate it. You can pick the name, I trust you.

You have 13 posts, have you considered, I dunno, just registering again with a new username? In any case, your request might be seen more in the Site/Forum Issues sub-forum. Though I'd be surprised if it were completed just like that.

I'd rather do it the dumb way.

Last night, I dreamed a human civilization on an alien planet was wiped out by alien bugs, which was only discovered in the future by accident when a small undersea research lab picked up the tears of a little girl in a seawater analysis and realized her DNA couldn't align to anyone living or any of their dead ancestors.

Now I have 14 posts. IT'S TOO LATE

Yeah, that is kind of the dumb way.

I dreamed that there was a man who was part of a king's court. Once upon a time, the king felt his daughter was becoming too independent, and so he sought to play a horrible trick on her to teach her subservience again. He lead her in circles on a false adventure, until by following his clues she arrived at his chateau. There she found an entourage to greet her, including the king and her favorite servant, who was once handsome and beautiful but now looked fat and unkempt. She asked him what happened and he began to cry, saying the king had forced him into it as part of the joke, and that he was a nobody now. Now, the servant had made a deal with wolves when he was a small child, the sum of which was this: as long as he remembered who he was, he would be successful, and this success would in turn bring good fortune to the wolves. The king, knowing of this deal, had tricked the servant into violating it in order to teach a lesson to his child.

Now, here the dream says that there are multiple tellings of this story. In the first, the king reveals his ruse and the man begins to run, hoping to preserve his life. However, the wolves are sore angered and promptly track the man down and devour him before he is even past the point where his screams can carry to the chateau. In another telling, the man escapes and lives for many years as a cliff dweller, though bitter and empty. One day, he hears a knock on his door (for he has built a cozy little cottage into the cave by now), and when he opens it he sees a man and a woman, both handsome but with sharp features. "Goodness, there is someone here!" the woman exclaims, "Pardon me, my husband and I have taken up rappelling for sport and so happened upon your dwelling." Seeing his now thin and disheveled look, she mentioned that her husband and her had brought lunch with them and were happy to share. And so the three sat down to a lunch, and the man asked the servant how he had come to live like this. Exhausted and lonely, the servant told them everything plainly. As he did so, he remembered who he really was and ceased to be lonely and empty. Before he looked up, he said "I'm ready now", for he knew that the man and woman were in truth wolves. In one telling, the wolves smiled at him before devouring him. In another, his recollection of himself restored the original compact, and as he looked up the wolves were gone. As for the princess and the king, I frankly have no idea.

I dreamt I was back in school and we were having a Math test. The teacher had some random numbers written on the blackboard, and then read some other numbers out loud. And we were supposed to multiply them with each other, only they didn't say which number to multiply with which, cause you were somehow just supposed to know that. So I was getting really mad at the implication that "you should just know this" and ranting at the teacher (who was the teacher we had in 2nd grade and this was obviously 8th grade, and this seemed really weird to me). And yea, long story short, Dude wakes me up cause I'm holding an angry speech in my sleep about how you shouldn't just assume things.

I dreamed police raided me after I trespassed on private RTD rail property. I shot at them and even threw a tear gas grenade their way. It turned out they didn't have lawful authority to raid me though so I didn't get in trouble, and later I was laughing about it with friends in the same apartment.

Last hight I had dream that there was some famous Greek philosopher (I can't remember who, but let's call him socrates) was being teased about not making good wine; at one point he decanted it into a condom and there were red and green bits (like the skin of an apple starting to go brown) and some colourless bits in between and it wouldn't mix. He decided he'd had enough and went and made the elixir of life instead.

Also one of my housemates got locked inside the loo and we had to describe how to unlock it to him through the door.

I'm not sure these two dreams were related in any way.

I dreamt that I could run super-fast (like Superman or the Flash) but only while sleeping, and that I had a habit of sleep-running to a mansion near the lake in my hometown and sleeping on their couch, waking up to the owners of the place finding me there again, and then forgetting the whole experience like it was a dream, so that next time it happened, it was as weird and confusing to me as the last time it happened. But the owners remembered and were just used to me and brought me up to speed... again... every time. And they were kind of annoyed but knew there was nothing I could do about it and so they were very gracious about shooing me out the door every morning they came downstairs to find me asleep on their couch.

ooh, I remembered another part. I went round to a friend's house except a mafia boss was living there now and had a very angry dog and cat which tried to attack me. I think my friend still lived there, so I was allowed; it's just that all the furniture was different and the house was way too clean and tidy. Also the part where the cat attacked me.

Normally I remember my d... oh yeah. Last night I had an extremely meta dream. I dreamed that I overslept, and woke up at 7:55PM, which was likely since I slept at 5AM, and that I missed going out grocery shopping and my SSDC meeting. In reality when I woke up it was about 1PM. I've been having more and more dreams like this, and it makes me think of that one Calvin and Hobbes. Usually I dream of sex. Sometimes space. Sometimes the space station. But never all three at once for some weird reason, given I have a thing for the station and space. x'D Usually I remember my dreams in intricate detail. But I've been sleep deprived lately...

Two dreams. In the first, I went in for FFS. They told me they'd need to pull some of my teeth out and put them back in, which was scary but I agreed to it. Then they started cutting open my forehead. But they stopped, saying that I'd had a major fracture sometime as a child and now they couldn't perform surgery because there were likely to be complications. They wouldn't listen when I said I didn't care about the risk, and they also wouldn't put the teeth back in that they'd pulled out. They treated me like I was stupid.

The second was some sort of Harry Potter rip-off. Not-Harry had a magic ring, and it flew off down a hallway. He chased after it and found it had connected to a lock on a door to some sort of sanitarium of the damned. The door was wide open, and Not-Dumbledore was there. Not-Harry asked what was going on and Not-Dumbledore was evasive, saying that everyone beyond that door only got what they felt in their own hearts they deserved. Not-Harry got upset and said it didn't matter, they were still worthy of help. Not-Dumbledore sighed and explained that these people had been the followers of a witch who had summoned a kind of psychic plague, who had thought it would appear on the opposite side of town, when it had instead appeared among their midst. It only effects those with extreme guilt in their heart. He ultimately relented though to Not-Harry's arguing, and they went inside the sanitarium.

I dreamed I snuck up on a school shooter but couldn't shoot him because the trigger pull on my handgun was too heavy. I was starting to take my gloves off in the hopes of making it easier to pull when he laughed at me and started to raise his gun. It was even more horrible because I knew he was going to shoot up the school beforehand and was just positioning myself to look good/get to kill a person.

In another dream I got pulled over for expired registration tags.

In another, a political family on an alien planet took an alien prince from a dying civilization (dying because of humans) into their midst as a political gesture, but it backfired and they got raided, he got killed, and everyone else got put under house arrest and stripped of power.

Oh, and there was a brief dream about a dragon rescuing people from the top of the twin towers on 9/11, but that doesn't make any sense because there was no roof access.

I was on a ship in the Star Wars universe. A co-worker came up and gave me a huge bag of those assorted chocolates from Hershy's, with Mr. Goodbar, etc. I warned my girlfriend not to eat them all because the bag was expensive and cost $2.55.

I was rafting down a river when I got to a lake that had been completely emptied, which was gigantic. I managed to grab hold of a rock to save myself from falling to my death, because the walls were straight up and down. But there was a large floating structure like a bin turned on its side, and I swung myself and managed to safely fall about 50 feet and land on the lower inside lip of it. But then I saw other people falling to their deaths. Mostly I felt smug about it, but some of them had kids. For some reason the kids were getting closer to the edge than the adults, and I managed to reach out and catch a couple of them. Then we left down a ladder.

I had several others but I forgot.

mine was a flashback to school. I hate those.

I was on my community college campus, but with people I went to high school and university with. There was some sort of big project I needed to work on, but I was the only one with a car, so I was driving people around, finding parking, etc.

Everyone decided to party at my house instead of going to their houses, so I was trying to work on a project as everyone else was trying to party around me (I was an architecture major, projects were pretty involved). Building a model and collecting final boards for what I assume was my thesis project.

I hate dreams like that. I woke up stressed :|

I dreamed I got hormones and surgery when I was young and I was happy as a consequence. To avoid being murdered I did a sort of interview when asked out, and it had to be answered perfectly: "You don't want to date me" "Why not?" "I killed a man. And not in self defense." "I like girls who are assertive" "I've slept with over 50 guys, some at the same time" "Good, then you have experience" "I was born a guy and only look female because of hormones and surgery" "I like you for you"

I also dreamed about trying to sneak onto a train to I don't remember where (I forgot in the dream too)

I dreamed I made a movie that was two sketches. One was about a girl killing people and then escaping with the help of the devil. It was done in a lego stop-motion style. The other was a documentary about giraffes with rocket hooves. They jumped 30 feet into the air and then used the rocket hooves to boost themselves, and then to arrest their fall on the way down, and that's how they traveled. The documentary called them dragons. I have no idea what all this means.

In my dream last night, I was at some sort of garden party thing, in a big marquee with lots of tables and chairs set out and with the floor just being grass. There were a couple of people making sure only people on the invite list could get in. One looked kind of like Shirley from Community, and we did some sort of weird handshake thing as I went in.

I was then explaining to my parents what the handshake was about. It went something like this: There was a secret society founded in the early 1900s by a bunch of physicists. They had a special handshake (like you do), where you shake each other's right hands twice and then wiggle the fingers on your left hand (with your thumb tucked into your palm). This somehow had something to do with the powers of c in "E2 = m2 c4 + p2 c2" (*) - the 2 was for the two right handed shakes and the 4 was for the fingers on your left hand.

This secret society handshake then apparently spread out into wider American culture, mostly into African-American culture. I'm not sure how I knew it, given I'm not American and I definitely wasn't in this supposed secret society in my dream. But maybe I just read a history book or something? *shrug*

(*): Aside for physics-y people: Yeah, according to my dream 1900s physicists hadn't figured out natural units. They didn't think the powers of c were important per se, just cool to make a handshake from :P

I dreamed I called Nadja Daviar and asked her if I could work for the Draco Foundation. She asked how I got that number and I said "from a sourcebook". She said she didn't know what that meant. Then she asked for my SIN and I said I didn't have one. She said they couldn't hire me without a SIN and I said I have a photo ID from the United States of America though. She said "what" and then sighed and told me that even if she allowed my application it would still be a less than 1% chance (by which it was clear from her tone she meant approximately 0% chance) of my being selected. I said "awesome! Thank you" and then the dream ended.

I'm basically just going to repost this from my twitter, with a little more detail + proper grammar, because that's where I wrote everything down as soon as I woke up from this dream BUT:

I just woke up from a dream where I was in a hotel, but I was playing some sort of game that I had had a dream about before, and I also knew everyone from the same previous dream. I remember thinking in my dream that I was somehow playing Undertale, but the only similar thing to the game was me having to go against Muffet (she's a spider girl who tries to extort you for money and/or kill you, in case you've not played the game). I had to walk through a theater or auditorium in order to get to Muffet's lair, and the seats were all really plush red velvet, with gold trimming stuff, and the stage had a bunch of ornate carvings, also covered in gold. It sloped down and I could see the entrance to the hallway where the door to Muffet's place was, it was surrounded in what looked like carnival themed stuff. I went through the doorway, and there were shining and blinking signs (like the kind with bulbs around the border, usually above theaters), and everything was covered in spiderwebs. I could hear giggling in the distance. The walls in the hallway were coloured from goldenrod to orange to red, and the floor was purple. The walls were also really angular and stuck out in weird ways, so the hallway it self was really jagged and the ceiling looked like it was closing in on me at one point. I was also clutching a stuffed animal under my right arm that was somehow vital to the outcome of the game. I can't remember what it was exactly, but it seemed to be similar to a bunny or a bear. I had dreamed about this place before, though, so I was confident that I knew exactly what to do.

The hotel that all of this was in had a lot of back hallways and things that led to really grand and ornate rooms, lots of theaters, ect, but the main lobby itself was really rundown and kind of shitty looking. I also remember talking to people in the dream, and they recognized me from the dream I had before that was in the same place and were very friendly and helpful about me trying to win the "game". There was also a room with loads of halloween decorations, and while I was walking through it, someone made them all jump around and flash. I was really startled, and whoever had done that was cackling. Then I heard a different voice say something, but I don't remember what.

When I woke up from the dream, my right arm was crooked and really stiff, as if I was actually tightly clutching the stuffed animal underneath it, but I obviously had nothing in my arm, so it was kind of weird feeling.

Anyways, that's all I can remember really clearly - this was one of the most vivid dreams I've had in a very long time that wasn't something really mundane, like going to work, or cleaning my room :?

That was a weird one for me. I attribute it to post-MMA exhaustion, reading a lot of Pratchett and taking some IB's right before bed.

The world was essentially being conquered and simultaneously terraformed by these large, wide, heavy-armed robots, which were rolling immense high-tech spheres in front of them. The robots formed a line almost entirely around the earth, and were pushing these spheres in front of them. The spheres were converting the ground beneath them to alien soil, as well as releasing filaments that connected to one another, creating a global sensory network and neural network. They were just knocking down houses and trees and whatever was in their way. They weren't targeting people, or even directly interfering with us in any way. They ignored us completely, so it was possible to just... dodge the robots. However, there was mostly destruction behind them. There were a large number of scenes of sneaking into a house that was just barely between two of the robots, and sneaking out the back of the house when the robots passed and then dodging the filaments. However, there were significantly more anthropomorphic and intelligent robots BEHIND that first line, and they WERE hunting people down. So the few of us that dodged her (it was a her) went back to the house and hid in the basement and just watched old VHS movies on the little portal TV down there until the world ended.

That might top it. It was a strange mixture of Fringe and the Fallout storyline (which is wierd, since I've never played Fallout).

I was bouncing back and forth between my world, and a parallel universe that was more technologically advanced but ravaged by a nuclear apocalypse. In more of a Quantum Leap twist, though, I was leaping into the 'me' over there, and that person ended up where I was. So I had a whole identity as someone high up in a military-style goods distribution and mercenary-for-hire establishment, but because I didn't know anything about this world I didn't know any of my security clearance information or procedures. Fortunately everyone on my team assumed I'd been brainwashed by the enemy, so they helped me out. There were repeated ventures in both worlds into the adjacent lake, which held SOME sort of secret I never figured out, and people in both worlds showed me the spot there the lake drains out "Just in case...", and that was intriguing, but we never got back around to it.

Now, about a third of this whole dream was spent investigating and taste-testing the shelf-stable post-nuclear doughnuts that were for sale in my establishment... and a third of the dream was me inexplicably trying to get four large document sets, loose pages one and all, and all different sizes, into some sort of wooden picture frame, where you have four bevelled edges slotted all around to hold a picture and glass. The frame was in four pieces. I was using clamps and clips and whatever I could find to hold the pages together, and slowly get them into this wooden frame one by one, but the big problem was there was no glue for the frame AND the thickness of all the documents was thicker than the slot they were supposed to fit into.

I very often get stuck in 'engineering problem' dreams like this, thanks to my day job, and they DRIVE ME INSANE AUGH. It's the least restful, most stressful sleep imaginable. Grrrr.

In a twist to the usual dream (number 10 in this list), last night I dreamt I was sitting a maths exam. Not only had I revised for it, I was allowed to sit with other school friends (dream-friends; no-one I recognised) around a big table, and we were allowed to talk quietly and play music in the background. It didn't feel like an exam at all, more like a laid-back maths lesson. In fact, I felt so at-ease, it was a disappointment to be a-woken by my alarm.

Had another dream set in the shadowrun universe. This time I was basically Kino from Kino's Journey. I was at a bar talking about how ridiculous it was that you could get a certain kind of cyberware installed in your foot, and then the bartender said "hey, you don't have any cyberware right? That's like, your whole deal isn't it?" And I said, "I don't care for it especially, but I have at least had a datajack installed." Then the bartender said "oh" and asked if I agreed that the risks weren't worth it, and I gave a measured response about how something can always go seriously wrong every time you go under the knife but it's just a calculated gamble, and then he got distracted with another patron.

I dreamed that there was a type of roman vase or pot or something, that had a coin baked into it on the outside, and it had inscriptions that said something like "break this pot to recover virtue". And it was a pun of some sort where the name of the coin sounded phonetically similar to "virtue". But people kept breaking them so it was hard to find specimens, and even worse people broke them not because of the inscription but because of the coin, which was actually their equivalent of a penny.

I had a dream I survived a plane crash that killed everyone else on board and should have killed me. The plane spiraled out of control only a few thousand feet above ground. I remember vividly making peace with my impending death, then being very surprised sometime later when I realized I was still thinking and perceiving. I figured it was the last echoes of a dying consciousness but then I felt someone grab my hand and I squeezed it. At first that was the only input from the outside world I received, and then I started being able to hear and thus communicate by one squeeze two squeeze. Over time I was fully recovered but in a wheelchair, and then after that I miraculously regained the ability to walk. My boyfriend was taking care of me, but I wanted to go back to school. I had to negotiate with the school though because it had been so long that some of my credits stopped applying. There was also a consideration of suing the airline company, but some other woman who had sued had gotten the money, and then found she'd been denied entry to her college because the airline effectively bribed them not to let her in, so I decided against it.

I had an XKCD dream! Unfortunately 430, but it started with Cueball taking an overheard crackpot phone call seriously and then waiting on the roadside at a specific location for a couple of hours for a car that never showed up. Then he recognized a building right there as having being used in the movie Boas on a Boat, went to explore it and got arrested because it was an underground football field.

I dreamed that I noticed a glitch in the fabric of reality, where every time a train would go by a certain place, all the nearby buildings would shoot up into the sky and stay there until the train finished going past. I asked a professor about this during class, thinking it was certain proof we lived in a virtual environment. He used my old name to refer to me, which pissed me off really badly. He was up on a round stage in the center of the room, and when he walked near me, I grabbed his leg and pulled him off. He got up and back onto the stage and said something cross, and everybody looked at me like "wtf". Then after some more speaking, he dismissed class, and I pretended to follow him just to scare him some more, but I lost track of him. Then two police officers came up to me, and one said "heyyyy, do you have any jewelry or other valuables to give to me? Because if you do, I'll make sure they go towards paying off the legal fees that will ensure you never, ever get your surgeries." I gave him an amethyst necklace worth $60 for some reason and told him it was worth $80 and was perfectly cordial. "You do understand you're going to prison, right?" he asked. "The fuck I am," I responded.

I had a dream about... I don't even know what. I'll try to reconstruct as best I can. There was a girl trapped in a dungeon. There were a couple of other criminals there with her. One of them picked the lock on everyone's chains, and then pressed on a portion of the wall and it gave way to a secret passage. They went up the passage until they came to a giant pit filled with fire. Over the pit was suspended a dragon, who was chained to all the embankments and roaring in fury. The only way across the pit was over the dragon. The other two turned back, but the girl went forward fearlessly, because the dragon was a part of her in some way. She was a princess who had been deposed of in a coup and was awaiting execution

Last night I dreamed I was a wageslave for some company in the Shadowrun universe, working on a secret project. For some reason Aden was there in human form and flirting with me. That was an odd, nice dream.

One of a litter of kittens was so clumsy and erratic we thought it has natal brain damage. Eventually it was discovered that its consciousness is a couple of seconds in the future and constantly at odds with what's actually happening.
