Things that make me sad

Postby piturtle » Tue Aug 24, 2010 5:06 pm UTC

I'll start.
1. Playing chess against someone who does 1.a4,e5 2.Ra3,....
2. Watching TV shows in general. The science, no, not even science, the logistics are so bad that even I, a lowly high school student, can pick out each problem easily.
3. Burning blueberry muffins.

Whenever I feel sad, I simply tape my thumbs to my hands, and pretend I'm a tyrannosaurus rex. Sometimes I use pasta shells as mini boats for lego men. Placing twelve party hats around your head makes it look like an everlasting gobstopper. Badminton is much more fun if you replace the shuttlecock with a Barbie® Doll head. Newton invented gravity so we could slide down things !

A world without slides is a world without happiness, so if anything makes you sad, make a "Bee line" for the nearest slide. Tee hee hee chortle !

If I think of any other obscure things that sadden me, I'll be sure to post them.

I'd say the 'angry' outweighs the 'sad' on most of dubsola's list. Politics makes me sad, because so many people don't put any thought into it (in that they vote for things they don't really believe, if they take the time to think about it) that it breaks the system of democracy. War, that's pretty high up on the sad scale. Seeing little kids with bad parents can be pretty depressing.

Also, more selfishly, losing games, especially important ones at LAN events. Lots of personal events, of course. I've yet to be affected by many disasterous personal event, but I imagine quite a lot of them (deaths, break-ups, redundancies, &c.) would make me sad if they happened to me or to someone I was close to; I know the couple of big family arguments I've been involved in - even if I've not taken a side - have been pretty damn depressing.

EDIT: Next post be about lighter stuff that makes you sad - this got a bit heavy! :o

People who refuse to accept, tolerate, or even listen to others' reasonable opinions and feelings, but also people who are assholes, douchebags, or full of shit, and expect me to accept, tolerate, and especially sympathize with, their bullshit.

Yeah, figure that one out, because it doesn't make much sense to me either. D:

Also:

- Small kittens who are soaked and meow pitifully because they just jumped into the tub while you were in the middle of taking a bubble bath
- Times when it's still sunny out, but raining at the same time
- Work (especially after a long vacation)
- Papercuts
- Every Disney/Pixar move made, with the exeption of Toy Story (the original), Cars, and A Bugs Life.
Humanity fueled my fear and greed - Cultivate and kill, it's our great legacy.
So much death to undo, but here's a clue: If we can build a bomb, can't we build heaven too?
Nah. Let's make life a living hell.

Having to plug in my motherboard to the computer case by myself. It's hard and scary (because I might shock the board or plug in a polarity-cable backwards, shorting it out). Though admittedly I did learn a lot... it still made me sad.

They're not so bad. I've had three now, and the third one I accepted as a chance to take time to sort out my house and change jobs to something I like more. I can let things like badness at work go, because nobody's really getting hurt (in my line of work).

I get sad about things that are preventable and irrevocable, that leave people or animals or beautiful things hurt or broken.

Just had to say, those are the best days to be out for me. The air is clear (and clean), all the colors are richer (no dust + sunshine) and the clouds make great light/shade patterns on the ground (easier to notice on the horizon).
No need for an umbrella even.

Thinking this makes people sad makes me sad...

The "meaninglessness" of everything becomes apparent once a lot of thought is applied to said things; this is my hypothesis on why thinking makes people sad.

Oh yeah, it's awful. I recently stumbled on ilovebees.com, and was immediately ensnared. I spent quite a while digging around and looking through everything on there, listening to all these recordings and such. There was so much to investigate, learn and discover. It felt important. Until I found out that it was viral marketing for Halo 2, a game long dead. And then everything crashed, it was not real, none of it meant anything anymore, it was gone.

It lied to me, it pretended it was something much bigger and more important than it really was. And then it was exposed, and it couldn't live up to itself. It collapsed in a fireball of soul-crushing betrayal. And that's why I hate those things.

There was a zombie ARG a while back, I forget the name. I don't think it was advertising anything (I made it to several alternate endings without feeling marketed to).

[*] Racism, sexism, and probably any -ism that you could conjure (including intellectual elitism).
[*] The subjectivity of morality (which, coupled with a lack of empathy, is the primary cause of most conflict)
[*] People who don't assert themselves when they have great potential
[*] The polarized dichotomy of political parties in the U.S.
[*] Times when the only reason to go through the week is to get to the weekend
[*] The loss of one's innocence (as if it existed in the first place [see #2])
[*] Religion, but primarily when coupled with dogma, zealotry, and and intolerance.
[*] Car troubles

-Sitting on the couch at night alone, when I have nothing to do, and thoughts full of regret and worry and longing force themselves through my mind. It's depressing.
-Having nothing to do by itself is pretty sad too.
-Being with friends and having to make myself laugh at the jokes that are made because I'm not laughing naturally at them.
To do list:

-kidnap Randall
-take his hands
-hire Eames from Inception
-make nachos

The bible says homosexuality's okay? Where?
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Leviticus 20:13
Seems pretty suggestive, what other evidence do you have in mind?

Evidences!
Spoiler:
Mat 8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, Mat 8:6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. Mat 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. Mat 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Mat 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. Mat 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. Mat 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. Mat 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Mat 8:13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

You see, Servant is one possible translation of the Greek word. Boy is another. Given the context (A fricken Centurion approaching a Jewish "miracle worker" to cure his... servant? Suuurreee. "Servant". Uh huh.

Oh, it also can mean a third thing. Lover. So make of that what you will.

There's also I Samuel 20. Pretty much the whole thing is about how David and Jonathan really.. really like each other.

What, is your Civ still using Monarchy? I mean, sure, it makes sense when you're at war, but the rest of the time you should switch to Democracy.
