I was pretty insecure about my appearance those days. Going through depression and gender dysphoria when you can't even identify it as dysphoria is pretty crippling.suffer-cait wrote:sleepygamer wrote:

Pfft. Confidence schmonfidence.
But yeah. Agreed. When I came out and started transitioning, I found that I got a lot more confident when my body started to line up with my head a little more.
Also started to make a lot more sense when I tripped a bunch of times and was able to see my personality a lot more analytically. I was able to work out who I was and almost rebuild myself, only with a lot more energy than I had before. I feel like a better person having been through that identity crisis, oddly. I don't know if everyone gets a chance to reinvent themselves that way.

Sorta like free probably pretty expensive therapy. Depression (treated) can get one there too.

Re: Post your boat race.
Pretty much. I mean, the gender therapy stuff is free here, so that's nice. Hormones are useful. The years of horrible depression and questioning my sanity weren't fun, but hey. Molded my character and shit.poxic wrote:Sorta likefreeprobably pretty expensive therapy. Depression (treated) can get one there too.
The trips weren't too expensive either. They've been some of the best therapy of my life. I don't really know how to take that. But out of therapy, antidepressants and attempting to build coping mechanisms, the thing that let me grow and become a more confident and expressive person was exploring my own mind.
Something something don't do drugs kids.

Carlington, you're less colorful! Planning on re-dyeing all or part of hair/beard?
Holy cow yes. It took me such a fucking long time to get that latter part figured out myself (I'd already been working on the depression for years), and the transition isn't all sunshine and roses or anything (among other things, growing breasts is surprisingly uncomfortable) but it's felt amazingly freeing. How far along are you?

I have smallish boobs. Like an A cup. They've been really swollen lately though, so I think I'm going through a growth spurt!

Re: Post your boat race.
Nice. I'm actually just one month in today, with daily spiro and weekly delestrogen self-jabs. I was surprised how quickly breast growth started. Based on immediate family, I shouldn't end up any larger than a B cup (which I'm perfectly happy with), so I'm hoping they have their little spurt and then sort of settle down.
One side of the family knows, plus 15 or so close friends that I've needed specific bits of support from. I'm not planning on a general coming out until probably close to the end of this year, unless the physical changes become too obvious to hide before then.

Found a wall in my travels. Was reminded that walls make things great. Keeps Mongolians out of China. The Germans were Nazis before their wall. When they tore it down, Soviet fell. It's also a good Pink Floyd album.
