I'm glad that you didn't already have one, it's not like I could have discretely asked without giving things away...

The delivery was far faster than I'd expected.

I'm totally joining the "joining the bandwagon" bandwagon, since I want on the "jessica is cute" bandwagon, the "__jess is cute" bandwagon, and the "Zorlin is cute, too" bandwagon. However, I don't think I want to be on the "Mountie is cute" bandwagon . . .

MacLean the Mountie is cute, not necessarily Mounties in general. (It's funny to see the clash between non-Canadians' somewhat-romantic perceptions of Mounties versus the very much real-life perceptions of the country's national police force by the locals.)

(At least I think they're the national police force, no? Sort of like the FBI, or maybe closer to state troopers?)

Closer to the FBI, though they act as State troopers (Provincial Police) in many of the Provinces.

I was going to correct that to say except Ontario (the OPP) because that's what I learned in school, but a quick search turned up the other two which have provincial police.

But yeah... most Canadians don't like the Mounties.

I was going to use the OPP as an example, but then I didn't, as I couldn't be bothered to look up the other ones, I was pretty sure about Quebec, but not Newfoundland and Labrador.

Wait, what? You clearly reside in Canada, and I'd have thought the fact that the RCMP was a national organization was pretty common knowledge. I must be missing something here.

Also, it's worth noting that, in many cases, the RCMP also function as a municipal police force as well, and also handles the duties that would be delegated to the Secret Service in the USA, as well as some of those that fall to the US Coast Guard.

That's what I wasn't sure of. I know they're national, and do large-scale investigations, and kinda do local policing in non-metro areas or something, but that was the extent of what I knew. (I've learned some stuff in the last few posts, yo.)

I blame the fact that my high school years were spent in the US, so I never really got to learn the details. (For those who can tell the difference, and that doesn't include me, I apparently have a Seattle-area accent. :| )

So...a little something showed up at my door today...

Spoiler:
Hey! Same State! This could only mean one person...
Image

Enough with waiting, let's open it up!

Spoiler:
Ooo, a card*...and bubble wrap! This is the best gift ever!
Image

*card contained a nice overview of everything inside.

Spoiler:
But much to my surprise...there was more! This gift just keeps on giving!
Image

Alright...time for a closer look...

Spoiler:
Wowie! Handmade soap! Supposedly made of coffee, smells a bit like Halloween candy. Kinda looks like fudge...I probably won't try to taste it.
Image

Spoiler:
Mmmm, cream cheese. How did you know I have a bagel for breakfast every morning at work?!
Image

Spoiler:
Just kidding! It's really tea! along with a special recipe that sounds delicious. Can't wait to make it!
Image

Spoiler:
These ornaments/coasters just make me smile.
Image

Spoiler:
And finally....la piece de resistance! The Fibonacci Scarf! The pattern follows the Fibonacci Sequence! Yes, I did count. Also, it is super comfortable and keeps my neck oh so warm. I don't think I've ever owned a scarf of my own. I certainly have never worn one except when I was forced to as a child. This changes things for me though...
Image

Spoiler:
Me pondering what my life will be like as: crucialityfactor- scarf wearer.

Thank you so much reishka! I don't think you could have planned this arriving at a better time.

For those of you not in CT, we just got our first snow storm of the winter today. In fact, I wore the scarf outside to clean off my car a little while ago. Needless to say, my neck was toasty warm, and I looked damn good.

Whee! It's fun watching someone else get something cool. Almost as fun as getting something cool myself (which I will at some point, barring postal tragedy).

It's like an extended gift-giving/receiving day with the family, but slightly more odd and internetish.

Cruciality, I'm so happy that you enjoyed everything in it so much. :) I was a little wary of adding in the tea, because you have to add so many ingredients to actually make it, but... it came out all right in the end.

Also... that scarf looks dashing on you, if I may say. ;)

Geez, keep seeing this thread and been meaning to post for a while, but keep forgetting.

Got my package a week or so ago. Saw it was from Amazon. I thought, "What the hell? Did I order something from Amazon by accident? I know I had logged into my account, but I don't think I clicked on the "Checkout" button." Then it dawned on me. "Aha! My Secret Santa! Yay!" Opened it up, found two DVDs:

First, The Amazing Screw-On Head - an interesting little cartoon, very dark, full of mindfuckery. Me likey.

Second, Tales From The Cryptkeeper, Season 1. Watched a couple of episodes. It was OK. Didn't care for the original all that much.

Looked to see if there was any clue as to who sent me this package. There was. Thanks, Jessica!

I haven't sent mine out yet. I'm not lazy, nor am I an ass-Scrooge when it comes to Christmas, it's just that what I intend to send out, I usually don't do until when it's closer to Christmas, usually no more than 10 days before. Since the 15th falls in the middle of the week, I'm pushing the deadline up to do it this coming weekend, since not only do I have to ship it out to someone here, but also to a few other people who love it, and to give away at work. Will ship out Monday.

I have a package! Filled with awesome goodies & key fobs & a game & a note & awesome earrings (which are perfect!, they're super light, and weight is usually my issue with danglies) and an awesome note.
Thank you!

... a new camera whose settings I'm still gleefully playing with, so pictures soon. Ish. Probably tomorrow evening.

p.s.: My gift should be sent out by Monday, promise I'm not a deadbeat, it's been an intense week.

Woot, Philip K. Dick! I'm saving the DVD for a special occasion - it looks awesome.

I got another gift from Outchanter?

No no, it's the same gift! But part of the order shipped later because it wasn't immediately available. I didn't realize that would happen until after ordering

By the way, is it just me or are avatar uploads broken? I wanted to change my avatar to its festive version:

Ha! You're welcome. I didn't know if you read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep yet, but it's a pretty great book. I had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to wrap them. I'm sorry for the extra suspense. LOL. <3

I got my package the other day (despite villainous apartment-complex managers failing to tell me I had a package, for days, until they were getting ready to send it back!) and it was AMAZING! Thanks so much, ThinkSweet! I was having kinda a bad day until I opened it last night, and it seriously made my day so great!

Unfortunately I am having camera issues (for some reason when I hook it up to my computer it just goes unrecognized, RAWR) so I may have to do a "re-unboxing" and just take cellphone-camera pictures.

But man when you guys see my present you are going to be JEALOUS! It is perfect!

In other news: my package has been sent, I have been slacking on posting picture proof but it should be arriving to my giftee sometime tomorrow. ;)

Also everyone else's present's are so cool! Great job, Santas!

[in other news I am editing the first post to start tracking people who have postage proof of sent packages, as well as a list of people who have received their packages and what page the pictures are on, for quick reference]
