What exactly is in this can of awesome, if you don't mind me asking? I have to watch my cats every second and put them in a separate room when I'm gone to keep them from knocking down my tree.
Yes, please share with your fellow cat owners what this magic potion is. Trees are good for gnawing on then barfing all over the rug otherwise.

It's called "Hartz Stay Off Training Aid". I wouldn't spray it directly on fabric, but it have used it on headphones before to stop one of my cats from eating them.

It's also rather effective before its sprayed. I can just shake the can and they flee the room.

They're big segmented doors on metal rails driven by a small but powerful motor (with the power of about half a horse, no less)! AND they are remote controlled! How awesome is that.
I think if I could have a small garage door as a front door, I would.

Garage doors are pretty cool, but the most awesome doors ever are probably these.

They're designed to stand up to a 30-megaton blast from only a mile away (the key: apart from being 25 tons each of blast-resistant metal, they are in a tunnel open to the atmosphere at both ends and close exactly flush with the tunnel walls, so the blastwave just goes straight through the tunnel instead of hitting the doors directly). And not only that...they do that while being so incredibly well built that they can be manually shut with just two people (if, for some reason, the powered door opening and closing system was broken).

Actually, the whole NORAD Cheyenne Mountain facility is pretty awesome. I mean, just to start...its a base under a mountain! And it can hold up against nukes! And their ability to completely button up is pretty insane (they have very hefty filters on air intakes, and for backup power they have 6 generators that can push out 10.5 MW of power, four water resevoirs that are large enough to be crossed on boats (which are mostly for surge demand, since there is a natural spring that gives the complex more water than it uses). The buildings themselves are all on springs (to deal with ground shock from a nuke or just a regular earthquake), which is really awesome in a crazy way when you think about it.

Masking tape. Awesome. I actually use it for everything - labelling, keeping folders from falling apart, keeping the edge of papers from getting ripped, repairing file dividers (because they always end up falling out of my file), and just generally fixing everything that's broken.

Sharpening a pencil with a knife or utility knife is awesome. It makes a really cool shape. Maybe I should take up woodcarving or something. Of course, I'd lose a finger...

You can sharpen a pencil with a utility knife (the kind that look like this)? I have a rectangular pencil, and a utility knife, but I've only been using that for paper. I guess I've been anxious I'll snap the thin little blade, or just dull it up.

I might actually be decent at water colors. Wire sculpture too.
Art is pretty awesome.

I used to sharpen my pencils with a knife because I thought it looked badass. In my defense I was 10, and I have hardly used a pencil since then.

Is this when Christmas trees go up? I thought they'd brown by Dec 25 when they're up this early. How on earth do you get them to limp through to the holiday?

Nostalgia is pretty sweet. I managed to dig up an old RPG-type of game I used to play when I was really young (Dink Smallwood, for those who are interested). The feeling of loading up the game and recognizing the interface, starting area and some of the sounds was so nice.

I remembered the game being really awesome but, as expected, it didn't really live up to my expectations. Got me a few laughs anyway from some of the dialogue options ("Get really angry for no reason") and the terrible dialogue itself:

"How is your family?"
"We're alright."
"Ah."

Of course, nostalgia is even better when the game/movie/whatever in question is actually good, but still.

Today was a good day:
-I had fun when singing my jazz jury. So much so that I would actually do a jury voluntarily--I LIKED doing it!
-I fixed my car and got my license and registration, so I can drive without worrying about being pulled over.
-I found a hot dog stand that's kosher! In South Central LA! I can have hot dogs practically any time I want now!

Now I'm at home and cuddled in my bed. I like this.

- I sent a few Christmas presents that I think (I hope!) will be enjoyed by the recipients.
- I start my new job on Monday. This is awesome for a variety of reasons. 1) I will be doing something pretty awesome, and helping vulnerable familes and mothers to be successful 2) I will not be sitting around at home being bored 3) I will be making decent money, and hopefully can save up enough money for a downpayment on a house in about a year and a half.

Today I drew a female manga character in front of one of my friends. Until now I've avoided doing that, because I know awkward conversation can/probably will develope, but it felt good. Yay for getting over some of my intense aversion to awkward!

Also, my preferred source for game reviews, which is teletext based, was going to disappear next week when teletext is switched off, but they're going to be continuing on-line. This is awsome. GameCentral forever!

The durability of my phone (Samsung C140)

So I was on the very top floor of a multi-story carpark, perhaps 8 floors up. Anyways I was a big angry at life so then I got to wondering. If I dropped my phone would it still work. So I kind of dropped it* and well apart from having to reinsert the battery and having to press down on various bits it sill works perfectly. I'm perhaps very lucky it didn't land on the screen...

*Entirely in the name of science, not a complete moron honest.

PS. If any of you know the Sainsburies in Cardiff near Queens Arcade it was the carpark opposite Sainsburies.

My final project was "one of the best submissions of the semester." And this was the class where I was sure I was near failing. The professor said he wanted to give me a way better grade in the end, but the numbers simply wouldn't allow it. But still -- I feel vindicated.
