I love the comic, but it needs to update more. I read it all in about two days over Thanksgiving, and it all of a sudden just hit a wall -- which is understandable. But that was almost two weeks ago, and I need more comic! /whining

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo lately. Not in a "need right now" kind of way, but in a "maybe someday in the distant future" kind of way. I'm friends with two girls who are into piercing and tattoos (one is going to apprentice to a tattoo artist after high school), and we talk about them a lot. I've always thought that I'm never consistent enough for a tattoo, but lately I've been wondering if I could get something like a rainbow on my hip, just something to say to the world "This is who I am. It's not all of me, but it's a part of me, even if I do end up in a heterosexual relationship."

I dunno, just something I've been thinking about.

Mostly I've been just hoping for more Khaos, though. :D
I wanted to see the universe, so I stole a Time Lord and ran away. And you were the only one mad enough.

Oh man, I adore Khaos. Such a good comic.

So anyway, I came out to another friend last night, and it went better than expected! We were texting and he basically just came out and asked me, and I decided "screw it, let's tell him." After a few of the most anxious moments of my life, he replied something to the effect of "dude, I already figured it out." A bit of discussion and he basically left it at that.

I am in a rather good mood now.
Look at me still talking when there's SCIENCE to do!

I made a graphical representation of the relationships between all local gays I knew in my senior year of high school. Special lines for dating, used to be dating, friends, best friends, rivals, et cetera. By the end of the drawing, it became QUITE clear that...people are fucking complicated. It was barely legible and required all sorts of funky notations. I affectionately refer to it as "the gaytrix".

On a semi-related note, I'm currently attempting to define a math model (with corresponding MATLAB simulations) to test my theory that same-sex attractive communities get more complicated, faster. If we assume all "I like your perceived sex and you like mine*" relationships function, then it's fairly clear what I mean. A group of 4 hetereosexuals can form no more than 4 two-person relationships. A group of same-sex attractive (single sex) persons can hit 6. That gap grows larger quite quickly.

On a "it's late and I'm tired" napkin-math skit, it seems max relationships of the hetero pool is [imath]\frac{n^2}{4}[/imath] while the same-sex attractive pool is [imath](n-1)![/imath].

I really don't think Khaos is all that unheard of, numbers-wise. And that's before the cultural aspects that might draw LGBT folks together.

Well, the pattern would have been the same for any given success rate that was held constant. This one just made it sound funny. :P

So...

Spontaneous campaign dedicated to lessening the suicide rates among gay kids.

The video is... interesting, to say the least. I'm not sure what to think about it at the moment.

I loved that link so much :)

(Kind of linked since it's to do with pronouns also) I haven't chosen a gender on facebook. This works pretty well for me since it means that all my posts show up on friends' news feeds as things like "Teapot just changed their profile picture" or whatever. It's enough to make me not feel bad about pronouns and stuff whether I'm in girl mode or boy mode or just feeling confused about gender in general plus the friends who I haven't spoken to at all about this stuff don't notice it at all. Today I started using an app which sometimes posts little status updates for you. The first status update used male pronouns to describe me, which at least one of my friends has already noticed and pointed out in a pretty shocked (knowing the friend it's a "hahaha they think you're a guy that's funny" shocked) way. This had led to me having to point out the fact that I got rid of my gender on facebook, which makes me a little bit uncomfortable. I also don't like how this app is incapable of dealing with people who are not listed as male or female and that it defaults to male pronouns. I know it's not going to be a big thing to anyone on my friends list, it was just a little unpleasant when the post appeared like that and now that it's been commented on (within seconds of it going up) I feel like I can't delete it.

I think you dealt with it quickly and rightly. If you want, next time you can have the app not publish things, right? I wouldn't worry about it. Frankly, if I didn't know about you, I might have reacted similarly. I probably wouldn't have paid much attention though.

http://fuckyeahcutetranschicks.tumblr.com/

So... I found this tumblr on the Twitter thanks to a complete stroke of luck. If I may quote from its front page...

Too often trans women are berated on our appearance or told that we're ugly. Those of us that blend in are often treated with such endearing phrases as "but you're so pretty, how can you be trans?" and "you're really cute... for a trans girl."

Well, it's time to show the world the cuteness that trans women can achieve. Fuck Yeah Cute Trans Chicks dedicates itself to showing that our cuteness and sexiness does not match cisgender expectations and those expectations can fuck right off.

<3

I thought that it was nice, positive space and I'm hoping that it will be as interesting and comforting to someone else as it was to me.
