A super-mega-awesome-chocolaty-fudge-coated-fun picture of me was taken on a recent night out. I don't look very cute but hey, I just wanna show the world this picture:

It's actually spelt "O'Brien" but whatever.

Was it really worth finding out what the small text in my sig was? Really?

This is my first post on here, but I guess this is the best place I can get some respect for being a geek, an xkcd fan, and a kid with a mohawk.

In order, these pictures are:
Myself on the way to a Magic: the Gathering tournament in Vestel, New York. I always like looking intimidating for tournaments... I mean, aside from my sunglasses.
My hair put up in Liberty spikes. I was going through some sort of "Grow out my beard" phase, and I guess the t-shirt/facial hair together looks a bit like a standard hippie...
Last day of my Junior year of High School in one of my classmate's glasses.
And finally just my hair put up in a standard mohawk.

DeeJus wrote:{...} an xkcd fan, {...}

Since when was being an xkcd fan something of merit? If xkcd is supposed to be a geeks-only comic, then Randall's doing a pretty bad job at it. Ever since the publishing of this comic, it has been evident that Randall's readership is too young and unseasoned to be truly geeky. Every *real* geek knows what RPN is!

And even Randall's graph comics are horrible. Graphs can be very funny and are easy to draw (there are whole websites devoted to funny graphs,) but Randall's are uninspired, simplistic, and unoriginal. Compare:

From Abtruse Goose:
Spoiler:
Image
This is an incredible comic. This is the best graph to ever exist. Ever. The comic is not simply a geek-culture reference, (or anything-culture reference, for that matter;) it makes a joke out of the graph itself. There is no background knowledge at all required for this graph, except for the knowledge of how to read a graph.

From xkcd:
Spoiler:
Image
This comic fails. First of all, intelligence can not decrease in such a manner nor does it have such a correlation with cat proximity. That line is both inaccurate, physically impossible, and redundant; it doesn't need to be there for the joke to work. "Complexity of Diction" would have been better. Also, there is no basis for the choice of a cat. It could have been a baby to the same effect. Or a puppy. Or anything cute, for that matter. And it could have gone without the "explanatory comic" at the bottom; all it does is explain the joke by providing an example of the previously described situation. It should be moved to the alt-text where that kind of thing is acceptable. And there's something about this comic that screams "LOLCATS" at me, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Hey, I like that comic. If you don't understand the deal with kitties, you should go back and read through the comics. Kitties pop up a lot! Also, I love that the graph looks like a fish (well, the tail end of it). I thought that was the best hidden part.

I was just explaining a bit about myself and posting some pictures . . . I'm sorry if you don't like his graphs. I guess the last panel of comic 546 relates to you a bit, eh?

Edit: Is it in poor taste to insult someone on the xkcd forums using an xkcd comic?

My hair goes down over my eye when it's down, and is a pretty decent sized mohawk for looks vs. ease of putting it up, walking through doorways, etc. Is there a way to know how long it needs to be before I post on here? I apologize for trying to socialize on the internet.

This is me playing on a friends guitar. I had no idea that this picture of me was taken until it appeared on my friends Facebook page, she was that stealthy. Also my hair was tied back at the taking of this picture, and I hope I'm geeky enough for ya. I could scrounge up a better photo if that one's not goo enough.

I'm not entirely sure why this thread survived when one posted by a guy, entitled 'Large-breasted geek girls wanted' and with a first post equally as predatory would have been rightfully cut down like a motherfucker.

That's... actually a pretty good point... Except I'm not sure a female version would be cut down as you say. Truly, if one just reversed the roles in the OP from male to female, it would sound pretty sleazy. Then again, "large breasted girls" isn't the exact female of "long haired boys". I don't think a "large-packaged boys" thread would last. :)

The difference, I think, is that we haven't got people replying saying "Your hair is really sexy " or making any uncomfortable remarks.
Probably because hair isn't commonly sexualised as much as boobs are.
