I wish it was still fashionable to wear a fedora. I love the Untouchables style. Unfortunately, it seems to me that most guys I see wearing a hat like that just look like they are trying a little too hard. If I could pull it off, I would do it. Seems to me that I would have to be wearing a suit though.

I had one, but it finally succumbed to wear and abuse a few years ago. I currently only have a cheap black felt tophat, and a grey collapsible tophat that needs some work on the very top (I accidentally dropped a car tire on it).

No bowlers, two Ivy caps...one cheapish one that I wear around often, and the other a nice wool one that's for special occasions / especially cold weather

Why should you care? If you feel like wearing a fedora, just wear it and to hell with people.

I just bought a nice trenchcoat so now I am looking for a fedora to go with it.

on top of my bowler, I have an awesome, sorta cowboy hat, a Sherlock Holmes style hat, a couple fedoras, a few jester's caps, and a cat-in-the-hat style top hat. Still looking for a flared top hat though, it would go perfectly with my purple velvet jacket. Made especially hard because of my abnormally large head (98th percentile).
I like hats a lot.

How do you fit in doorways with all of those hats piled on top of your head?

The "on top of..." bit made me think of piled-up hats, too, which made me think of this book (image spoilered because of size)

That was one of my very favorites as a littl'un.

In other news, still no bowler.

I own a bowler, for the same reason probably about 90% of the bowler-owning population.

So I could dress up like alex from a clockwork orange.

I still have it, and it suits me, but it isn't something I could really get away with wearing in public. I live in a part of the country where I imagine it'd be illegal to act like an individual. Oh, to live somewhere crazy, like Brighton... *dreams*

I far prefer the Trilby or Boater to the Bowler.

While I currently have no hats, I intend to get:

    Black Trilby

    Straw Boater

Possibly a black Top Hat. Collapsible if I can find one.

    Red Fedora

I'm currently digging around for other bits of unusual clothing however, so hats are a ways down the list.

I've found it's not really wearing a suit as much as carrying yourself right. I can carry off a fedora while wearing a t-shirt, it's just a matter of getting one.

I can also pull of a suit quite well though, so the two might be related.
