You can still manually inject cheese-burns. Or cheese-burn references.

Whenever I burn my mouth on hot cheese, I make sure to tell the fora all about it. It's been a while now, though.

In the name of procrastination, yesterday I went and visited the Tate museum, which is a museum we have in the Mawson Building at University (dedicated to Douglas Mawson and largely used for Geology and such), and today, I am posting pictures of the things I found. I love procrastination.

I saw this and immediately thought of the fora. Oh what mass hype can do!

I never knew what colour cinnabar was, and this isn't a very good representation. Its an orangey-red usually. But considering I've always known what the other colours in the original Pokemon were, and never thought to search for Cinnabar, finding a rock in a museum was pretty neat, I thought. Having found these rocks, I did do a search, and it turns out that cinnabar is most commonly found associated with recent volcanic activity, which makes sense, given what eventually happened to poor old Cinnabar Island. Learning is fun!

Ugg. I don't know why people speak so fondly of Kanto..it's not that great. The place is such a dump, really. There's only a population of like, 300 or 400 people by my count, spread out over 10 towns. Heck, Pallet Town only had like 5 residents. There were no police departments or hospitals, but there were like 12 animal hospitals. And the place was overrun with the mob. We didn't even have electricity...I actually snuck into the old abandoned power plant once.

He doesn't actually ask you if you know what it's like to have one of your pokemon die. He says "Hey [YOU] what are you doing here? Your Pokemon don't look dead!" It's pretty heavily implied that his Raticate died (although not necessarily because of you).

Clean her room. Be sure to move all of her shit around to places that "seem" better.

Ask if she gets it now.

When I'm no longer dependant on her for financial support that sounds like the first thing I should do.

The fact that I then can't find some stuff is just a minor annoyance. It's more a combination of the fact that I don't want her finding some of the stuff in my room for my sake and hers ("Oh hey, Mum, could you not look in that bag? It has all my sex toys in it...") and the fact that she's used "tidying" as an excuse to read my diary on several occasions before (to try and help with my depression and problems trusting people) and I'm worried she's trying to do something similar now (never mind the fact that I stopped writing down things when I realised she was reading them).

Sure, which is all stuff the unexpected clean reinforces. That you've just gone through everything of hers - everything. That you've probably seen things you're now drinking so you can unsee. That you've read things, thrown things out, moved everything around. It's a huge feeling of violation, and sometimes it's the only thing that works. I mean, to your mom, you're still a fricken baby with no real thoughts or personality of your own, nor rights of ownership to any of your stuff because she bought it anyway (whether or not she did).

That's how parents work, sometimes at least.

Every couple of weeks our university sends out an email to everyone concerning university-type stuff (I assume. It is promptly deleted because, you know, who gives a sh1t). Anyway so one was sent out today and some genius clicks reply-to-all instead of just reply. Then the baffoon in charge replies, but also replies to all. From there it got all silly with other people butting in and asking people to stop replying, causing more people to reply etc. (there was even a rick-roll thrown in somewhere for good measure). An hour later and everyone involved at the University of Stellenbosch has 30+ (and counting) retarded mails in their inbox.

The relationship between the wasp, caterpillar, and my tobacco plant, fascinates me. The wasp lays its eggs in the caterpillar, OK. How does the caterpillar get on the deck, or up into my tobacco plants? Even if they could sense the plants, how do they find the stairs? Does the Wasp reciprocate the miracle of life and transport caterpillar larva to my tobacco plants? Microscopic questions have been running in the background of my brain for the past 4 hours. If so, the codependent relationship would be rather freaky...... Or maybe not as uncommon as you think. Won't you join me on the "Discover Channel" as we explore our similarities with the microscopic world.

This forum has a tendency to muffle my misanthropic mindset.

It's difficult to pin it down with mere words; call it a persistent feeling that society as it exists is not fit. I don't feel depressed, or angry, or anxious. There is no sense of impending doom, just a vague notion that civilization as we know it is bound to collapse, that it should collapse, and that while things will be horrible when it happens, they will be better as well.

Then you wonderful people come along and remind me that there are legitimately good, intelligent people out there amongst the noise and I'm filled with the inexplicable idea that maybe things will work out after all.

Clearly I need to read more Richard K. Morgan.

Also, accidental alliteration is awesome.

I didn't write this(I'd love to be able to write this well). It's just something I have read, and re-read once in a while. \

You've had the nagging sensation for a while. Had it as you sit there on the couch that your fiance picked out from Haverty's, brown suede that matches the curtains and those modern art paintings that look to you like a loose scatter of toothpicks viewed through sea glass but are inexplicably titled "From My Heart" and "Bosom." You weigh the PS3 controller in your hand as you wait for the Netflix menu to open. It was smart, buying the PS3. A sensible move. You get Blu-Ray movies and you get games, and you get the media center, too, although honestly that's a feature you never use. You wish you did. You know you should. There are starving children in the world who have probably never even heard of a media center, and for you to just ignore the one you have...

You pop open your Sam Adams. A winter lager. You don't know what you are going to watch. Your queue has grown so long. You add movies to it faster than you can watch them.

And that's when it occurs to you. The thought is like a crashing wave, one that sucks the air from your lungs and leaves your legs buckled and weak. You may never actually get through your queue. You may die first. In fact, you will die first. You know this. You will die before you even get halfway down to the movie you've most recently added, some old Jeff Bridges boxing flick called Fat City that you'd never heard of before. But, hey, Jeff Bridges. And now you may never see it at all.

And is this it? Is this mortality? Is your life truly measured against an ever-growing Netflix queue? If that's true, then you are merely Sisyphus reborn. Your entire life a testament to the unfinished. The unachievable. This brown couch...is this the couch you will always have? You have never owned a beanbag chair, though you have dreamed of one since childhood. Your PS3, so sensible, so smart...but will you never have an XBox? Will you never play Halo online? And your fiance, her cute bangs and cute laugh and cute perky chest--will there never be another? There are other girls to date. Girls with tramp stamps, girls with breasts like pendulums, girls who would do things to you that you can't even vocalize. There are more, so many more, and you will never have them all. You will die first.

This is what you realize. This is the nagging feeling you've had. You switch off the controller and you sag back into that brown couch, stare up at the paintings and take a long drink. You close your eyes, and you weep. Long, wracking sobs that rend your chest. You weep for the world, and for for what you will never be.

And then you get up and carry on living life with a renewed sense of purpose (you may not finish, but you can damn well try) instead of weeping like an angsty wimp?
