Even though I am as ever present in this fora, I still forget to check the regular xkcd strips. It probably kind of like "I'm just here for the food" scenario.

Ever since I joined the fora, I see each new strip when the discussion thread is posted. I very rarely go to the main page anymore.

Another vote for your avatar (real?) hair, Harley. Plus, in that shot you're not about to wallop me with a pillow.

@The Cat: I visited Belfast last year. Great city - loved it. I was really impressed. Does manage to rain there more than I thought meteorologically possible, but it's becoming a great place without losing it's sense of history. (Not sure I'd want to be there for marching season). Why do you ask?

Some people put rice in their salt to, apparently, absorb the moisture and stop the salt from clumping. I'd guess some people do that with sugar, too?

That would make sense in a salt shaker, Phoenix, because the rice grains are too big to get out through the holes. In a sugar bowl, it won't be as effective, you'd get rice in your coffee...

I'm trying to figure out summer plans. During the discovery stage, the ultralight trip lost some viability. However, I haven't ruled it out entirely. My ancestors are from England and Ireland, so the troubles in that region have always been of interest. (must resist family joke...can't do it) Dad's family went to Ireland with Oliver Cromwell and Mom's family was already there. I suppose their relationship is much like that of Belfast. Mom wants more, dad wants to give less, and mom implements subversive strategy to get what she wants. Just your basic socioeconomic issues rooted in thousands of years of history.

I also heard they make some good beer and Whiskey.

Old whiskey is the name of my putter. I actually left out the H the first time I typed it. It's no mystery that my posts are riddled with spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. Sometimes the errors can be attributed to whiskey. There is NO significance to the letter W. I'm glad you asked.

That is really funny, Felltir. Thanks TD, for getting me to go back and read the testimonials.

Unrelated- Bat channel was amusing. When analyzing "skill sets", how important is spelling in the age of spell check? If your an ex bank employee, I can see how poor articulation might hinder upward mobility. But in every day situations, who is better suited, the English major, or someone with an eclectic background?

Poor spelling tends to come across as unprofessional. It's kind of like saying "I don't really care in what state this communication reaches you", and thus can be frowned upon. A couple of typos in a several-page document are forgiveable, however. Especially in this age of retarded spell-checkers that auto-correct things to other words without telling you, even when you actually wanted the original spelling because it's a name or acronym or something.

I agree on all points. My statement was directed at a non sequitur fallacy.

Tommy relies on spell check, therefore Tommy can't get his message across. Know what I mean, dude.

On another note, and trying to stick with Felltir's good humor*. I just saw a recent photo of President Obama. If his hair gets any whiter, were gonna have to start calling him Uncle Ben. Only one year. Look at the before and after. The handlers obviously haven't seen the touch of grey commercial. It shows you have enough energy for the campaign and the experience to back it up.
