Which one? (Not that I know any of those fancy new-fangled ones. Back when I was a kid we had 151 and that's the way we liked it! And to get to the gym, we had to walk twenty miles through the snow, uphill, both ways, while being mobbed by rabid monkeys, etc.)

Two things:

1) I recieved the following text message just now: "Eid mubarak! May your sacrifices be rewarded. Have a sensational day to your hearts content, just don't over do it with the food. Lots of love- zaman and nish". It is most peculiar. It is possible, though, that the Islamic people wish me to have a Happy Ramadan, and I am totally behind that, thank you very much. I don't know these people, though.

2) I was just playing that Ninja game with Enya's China Roses playing in the background. It was a most wonderful juxtaposition.

I think it definitely needs to be taught, but for some people it is simply going to be wasting their time. Surely some sort of recognition of prior learning or even an exam should be available for people who do actually grasp basic English?

At Uni, it's pretty important to be able to write legibly on exams or homework (though I suppose you can normally use a computer at least for homework). And that's about as bad as saying "Who cares about spelling/grammar, we have computers, they can check it for you."

I prefer to write notes, than type them as well, but that's personal preference (and I get easily distracted having my laptop in class  ).

Grammar has always been a big issue for me; Which is probably pretty evident in my posts. But I have fairly neat handwriting and my spelling is pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. I wouldn't have an issue taking this class to improve my grammar. However, I was looking forward to never having an English class ever again at the end of this year :(

My mother has 'suggested' that because schoolwork will be piling on this year, I don't buy any more computer games for the rest of the year. I'd agree with her, but Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead are coming out in one and two months, respectively.
