I think my range of hearing is too good.

I get headaches from being in the same room as an AC adapter (they put out horrible ultra-high-frequency whines).
I can hear when my mouse is transmitting to the wireless receiver (again, quiet high-pitch squeal).

I'm fairly certain I can hear up to 23KHz, at least.

I seem to be losing my ability to hear such things. Or maybe I've simply learned to ignore them.

Supposedly, you lose some of the high end of your hearing range after teen-age-hood, but I'm 18.

There's just something about it, something dark, that draws me in.

Just out of interest have you ever played System Shock and the sequel?

The thing that made Bioshock for me was the story and the acting. I was more moved by the 'A man choses' speach then i have been by most films ive seen.

Those accursed "mosquito" high frequency things designed to annoy teenager loiterers...

People at my high school would download really high pitched frequencies as ringtones so they could text each other without the teachers hearing the phones ring or vibrate. You lose your ability to hear these pitches as you get older because the hairs that pick them up usually get damaged by the time you turn 20 or so.

Actually (and you're probably going to hate me for this), I've had the sequel installed on this computer for a while but have never played it. :o

I'm still looking for a copy of the original.

Teen tones:
1) They project these a lot louder than you might think, which is why it can actually drive off most teens.
2) They project several frequencies to be certain they get everyone. So, imagine your surprise if you've got excellent hearing, and instead of just hearing one or two, you hear all of them.
3) Fuck. That. Noise.

I've never been subjected to one of these, and until now, did not think they were being used a whole lot.
How can they possibly be legal? Isn't this the equivalent of having a loudspeaker that loops "BLACK PEOPLE GO AWAY" all day?
I feel that these things are discriminatory and assaulting.

I was looking at some articles on lifehacker (shitty blog site that is all about 'hacking' your life to make things easier) and all the articles about internets have a disclaimer saying 'this stuff only works for IE on Windows' and I thought, 'here's a hack for you: get firefox and make browsing the internets about eleventy billion times easier and more enjoyable'.

Well i started playing through recently again and i did realise that guns are much better than I gave them credit for, most are abit meh but the shotgun is so many kinds of awsome.

I dunno, there was just something about my first ever wrench kill which sent my enemy into a sideways spin before coliding heavily with a table that made me fall in love with the wrench. It also set off System Shock nostalgia :)
