Damn it, I just spent the last two hours browsing ThinkGeek. This always happens when I go on there.

Edit: In addition, Firefox is consuming 145 MB of RAM from all the tabs I have open. I've only had more than this with TVTropes.
All is well. We are not like the others.

Funny things that have shown up on the checkout at work (sometimes it shortens words that don't fit):

strwbrry sprm (Strawberry Supreme dessert)
pantene spoo (pantene shampoo)
cum sausage (cumberland sausage)

That's just the ones I can think of... I just thought I'd share because every time one of those shows up I have to fight so hard to stop myself from laughing

And we'll all come praise the infanta...

Something curious about The Decemberists is that their songs are either really really good, or really really REALLY horrible.

The Infanta - good.
Mariner's Revenge Song - absolutely revolting.
The Engine Driver - really good.

etc.

RT: What I Like About You has got to be the most overused song in commercials, ever. I just saw a freakin' Ford commercial using it. Ruthless ad agencies have totally abused that song, especially when it usually has nothing to do with the advertisement.

Edit: And I was not referring to the band "Schadenfreude", by the way. That's not really the best word for the feeling I was trying to describe, anyway. It's more like, taking pleasure in reading really stupid comments. Someone should make up a word for that.

Hm. I love music, you see, but I have a terrible, terrible memory for song titles or artist names. For example, I was fifteen before I had more than a tenuous grasp of who The Who is, and same with Nirvana. In fact, actually I still can't name any of their songs. The best I ever do seems to be remembering the chorus line, which is fairly often also the song title.

FT (In short): Subjective things - Why do people bother arguing about them :?
There's plenty of quantifiable aspects about most of the things around us.

edit:
FT: Why do people place true statements next to one of their unrelated statements as some kind of evidence? I hope more people than I think notice that. Logic which, when taken to extremes, is equally valid in the statement "Planets are larger than humans. Our product is good" just doesn't work. It's even worse when people don't realise they're doing it.

FT: Arguing with people that believe in "alternative" medicine is very difficult when they don't appreciate the significance of scientific testing. Despite being obvious, remind me not to try it again. If they can't see the logic in it, trying to beat it into them won't work either. Now... if only I had logic written on the front of a knuckle duster, so I could take that far more literally.

I was just watching my brother play Gun on X360, an obviously fairly-low-budget game. He finds a chunk of gold maybe twice the size of your average baby, and chips off a single nugget (maybe the size of his fist) worth $10. Now, as I understand it, a pebble of gold is probably worth more than $10. The guy's not only a fool for leaving the rest, he's also getting totally ripped off! :P

I was making lemonade just now, and I had added the lemon juice and water, before realizing we didn't have any white sugar! And I didn't want to add brown sugar, which I hate, so I decided to add orange juice instead (because hey, that has sugar, right? ). It tasted horrible. So I caved and decided to add brown sugar anyway. Now it's actually pretty good. The orange juice kind of cancels out the brown sugar taste, while still preserving the sweetness. The only problem now is that it's not technically lemonade...

The amount of gold 10USD would get you is probably too small to see, given that an ounce is about £350 or so.

I feel horrible for doing this, but uh, I've been perhaps using a certain sort of process to create frankenstein posts out of text from the fora. And well, It seems to have already produced a gem or two:

Mark V. Shaney wrote:yeah, it's a nice message that it's okay to want and even have (safe) sex at the numerous smart and funny females here, but I'm not the way to deal with it.

Mark V. Shaney wrote:At first I missed her even more but after a few drinks, played every pinball machine in each bar we could find, was a pretty good time.

Now guess which sub-fora I used as source material.
I am currently enjoying the pathetic anger bread of a dissatisfied life.
