Take the extra day off. Feeling OK at home and not doing much does not equate to being able to get through a full day at work.

I agree. Feelings are stupid. Let's pretend they don't exist.

I want to go to the beach tomorrow but it might rain. I have the option of "chancing" it or waiting till Saturday to go to the beach. But Saturday is probably not going to happen because I will stay up too late on Friday.

Sigh, life is SO HARD.

I don't get images at work. Because you know we're all 11 here and would probably surf porn or cooking recipie sites all day.

I'm gonna guess at what is above.

I think it's a rain cloud? No too obvious. How about a rainbow?! Yeah a rainbow wouold be friendly and well, you know XKCD. Nothing but a big group of friends we are. Hrm, but what if you're mean then I guess it could be a alligator? I don't think there are saltwater alligators. I guess now I get to go read Wikipedia.

I'm going to settle on a canary. That is probably a picture of a canary.

EDIT: This http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alligator, led me to this "American alligators live in freshwater environments, such as ponds, marshes, wetlands, rivers, lakes, and swamps, as well as brackish environments" "The Chinese alligator currently is found only in the Yangtze River"

The bolded led me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yangtze_River which led me to "Four of China's five main freshwater lakes contribute their waters to the Yangtze River" and multiple other tid-bits that lead me to believe the water isn't even brakish except at maybe the mouth.

Poor alligators, never get to know the ocean.

Well that isn't anything like what I expected.

Maybe Fry squinting represents someone squinting because of the sun at the beach and this kind gentleman is telling me to go to the beach both days!!

I interpreted it as an evil eye because DSenette would like to have the option of going to the beach but cannot. It looks more like evil eyes than squinting.

@Panonadin: I think the unsure Fry was because you said "Sigh, life is SO HARD." about deciding when to go to the beach. As in, it's a decidedly #firstworldproblem.

Our labs are three hours long and going and getting something done is almost always better than not going at all, unless you have a really good excuse. I also knew that we weren't doing a full lab this week (although I wasn't entirely sure what we were doing). In terms of attendance, the department tracks that with electronic dibbers. I'm not certain on the specifics of what it records, but if you put your dibber in the box roughly any time during the class it seems to just be recorded as 'yep, you were there at some point, good enough'. Furthermore, we only need ~70% attendance overall, so it doesn't matter hugely if it doesn't actually work that way.

One day I'll figure out why people bother to put "I don't own any of this" in the description of youtube videos. If youtube didn't have better mechanisms already in place couldn't they just remove all videos with descriptions like that? :P

There are plenty of people who think as long as you give proper credit, you're OK with copyright... that copyright violations only happen when you take something copyrighted and claim it as your own. I was one of them, as a kid.

Well, there are plenty of bands who are OK with people sharing their music as long as they don't make money from it and don't claim it as their own. Like Crass, for example (or, these days, Crass minus Penny Rimbald).

There's also a matter of a sense of ethics of not taking credit for someone else's work, even if you're aware that it's still not legal as determined by copyright.

Screech: I've started reading the Flashman novels, which has inspired me to read up on the first Anglo-Afghan war. Turns out they overthrew the existing government and installed a more west-friendly king, and then had to stick around for years to make sure the country didn't implode into civil war.

War... war never changes.

I normally go out drinking with people aged 16-40 years older than me.

I've got a funeral at 9 tomorrow. A former football coach passed away on Tuesday.

And then I got a date. Talk about a weird day. I'm thinking about just wearing the slacks/nice shirt to the date.
