I was pretty active on the Godawful Fan Fiction fora (defunct now) a few years back. The Internet no longer fazes me.

Did you paste the wrong link there because this is the best fanfic I've ever read, mostly because I only read what people call 'the worst fanfic ever'. There's been about 4 so far and they've all been much much worse than this.
This just reads like your average romance novel so far.

No, no. This is the first chapter of a published apocalyptic novel.

The fora got me into some trouble today.

I was browsing News and Articles at high school this morning and through some kind of Red Alert procedure I was taken to the office, where an administrator took me to the guidance counselor, because I was reading "websites about cocaine, pepper spray, and an angry teen committing murders". They seemed to think this was some kind of cry for help, so I had to persuade the counselor (and the administrator) that I wasn't a homicidal cokehead planning to go on some kind of pepper-fueled killing spree.

Not the best day.

Does pepper-spray classify as a murder weapon these days?

Also, excerpt of a conversation I had last week:

Me: "Your brain is made of chemicals."
Classmate: "No, it's not."
Me: "...Then what do you think it's made of?"
Classmate: (in very cheery voice, as if proud of herself) "Atoms!"
Me: "Yes. All matter is made of chemicals, and all chemicals are made of atoms."
Classmate: (thinks about this) "Alright. Maybe your brain has this much chemicals." (She holds up her fingers to indicate the approximate volume of a shot glass.)
Me: "So what is the rest of it made of?"
Classmate: "Emotions."
Me: "And what are emotions made of?"
Classmate: (long pause) "Jesus."

I remember that, a couple of years back, I was searching for something - don't remember what, but possibly a computer game character - on google, and this page about diamonds came up. There was nothing on the page that included the search terms I had put in, so I looked at the source of the page, and someone had posted an IRC chat log from a group reading of a piece of fanfic.

Damn, it was funny. I'll try and dig up a copy of an SQL dump from my old forums so I can put it on here for everyone to read.

Man, I want to buy a Knife with an edge made of carbon nanotubes.
I wonder how well a tungsten carbide knife would perform.
Or a Knife shaped diamond... that would be insanely cool. Probably best not to use it on plates or such.

No, I think you're doing OK as long as it's not reminding you of the girl you have crush on. Conversations are ok.

With all this talk about nanotubes, I'm wondering how long it will take before it is found out that they somehow pose a serious threat to our health.
(just like asbestos). If I remember correctly, there was a study which showed that nanotubes caused cancer in test-rats.

One of my cats does this, although she doesn't usually leave immediately. Usually she'll get on my or my wife's lap and then her stomach will start rumbling a bit. I think she just feels comforted being on one of our laps when her stomach's upset. So, yeah, kinda gross, but also kinda sweet.

Tomorrow starts my next semester at school, after a week of tests. I've already made a planner and everything, and I have to do even more than in the last semester! Nooooeeees!

[Now, I do like making projects and reports. At least you get a very visible result that way, it gets checked, you get a grade on it, and you can drool over the nice layout. With homework; not so much. I hate homework.]
