The Bob Game

Postby The Scyphozoa » Sun May 10, 2009 1:27 am UTC

Imagine a man named Bob. He is standing, all alone, on a perfectly flat ground made of nothing in particular. This ground extends infinitely in all directions. Above him is a nothing-in-particular sky. EDIT: SINCE TOBIXTHEGOODBOYX IS MY FRIEND IN REAL LIFE AND HE REMINDED ME THAT BOB IS AN A 2D WORLD, THAT IS NOW A CONDITION.

EDIT:[EVEN_MORE_EMPHASIS]NEVERMIND, THAT'S NOT TRUE. HE IS NOT IN 2D. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DESPISE MY HORRIBLE POSTKEEPING SKILLS.[/EVEN_MORE_EMPHAIS]

The first post will be an attempt to kill Bob. You do this by summoning something. Be specific: don't just say "I summon ___.", say "I summon ___ to do ___.", unless it's obvious what you want it to do. If it's obvious, explaining it ruins the fun. (For example, if someone summons Geek Squad, then summoning layoffs would be obvious.)

The next post will try to save Bob by counteracting the first post. You do this by summoning something else, be specific here also. You can give Bob something to use and tell him what to do with it.

The next post will also have the goal of killing Bob--by counteracting the measure previously taken to save him. Then the next post tries to counteract that, then the next post tries to counteract that...

Note that Bob WANTS to live. Killing attempts cannot influence that. No one can directly control him, but people trying to save him can instruct him on how to use something towards his best interests.

Normally, when playing this game between just two people, you can't summon anything that has already been summoned. But that's too hard to keep track of in a forum thread.

You cannot summon:
Bruce Schneier (ChuckNorris)
Mr. T
Raptors
Alzheimer's
Negative Gravity

I'll start.

I summon land mines under the ground directly under and all around Bob.

Lightning strikes the hovercraft, shorting it out and causing it to fall to the ground (where there are still mines)

A hurricane appears, causing the Trrsts to shoot the mines by accident, saving Bob's life, and the Trrrsts are swept away, while Bob magically isn't effected.

as the vowels attack Bob, i summon consonants to fight back. Y acts as a moderator and the dispute is settled, saving Bob. oops.

i use a giant magnet to draw the weight away.

Yeah, I posted the vowels thing too slow. Anyway, I summon Leonidas to kick your magnet into a hole.

(And then it lands on a tortoise... see my epic pagetopper somewhere in the middle of the "Logical Fallacies/Douchebaggery in Commercials" thread.)

another much more powerful magnet appears in the ground under the turtle, but far away from Bob. The Turtle is pulled down to the ground and is split in half by the magnets pulling at eachother.

Tortoise-Superman hybrid would probably be something like a fire crab from the Harry Potter computer games... in that case, Flipendo! (or Rictusempra, or Depulso, depending on which game it is...)

I summon Magneto with a latin dictionary; he negates the magnets with his magnetism powers and uses the dictionary to point out to the Tortoise-Superman monster that your spell doesn't mean anything.

He gets to his feet, and resumes his rage-fueled advance towards Bob, his soon-to-be latest victim. Magneto leaps atop his back, ready to prevent any more magnetism related attacks.

First off, finally Scyphy! Thank heavens you made this.
Walk and talk in PE helps.
Ah, the Bob game. How interesting that you chose this. Plus, this is my first post.

Now, the summon:

(Oh god, Scyphy, I win forever with this. You forget, hehehehe.)

I summon -1 gravity, which, in turn, reverses magnetics, causes everything to be into the atmosphere, nothing works correctly with the new physics, the world turns inside out, and then the universe goes with it, thus killing all life and anything summoned. This does not affect Bob though, for he is in a two-dimensional world.

Beat that!

(If you don't, I guess I win! PWN!)

What, exactly, do I need to defend Bob from, if he is unaffected by the anti-gravity due to being two-dimensional?

I summon the Square from Flatland to lead Bob away from this location to a fresh 2-D locale, where there are no more bombs, weights, and dead magnetic turtles in the immediate area. (Hey, it's an infinite plane . . .)

I summon Threed, the mysterious assassin who has master the ability to strike... FROM THE THIRD DIMENSION!

With all of Bob's defenses arranged in a 2D plane nothing could possibly stop this plan!

MWAH HA HA!!!!!!!

(I assume villainous monologues and evil laughter are entirely appropriate when trying to kill Bob, even though the rules don't actually mention this)

I summon the Archangels, and also, my -1 gravity move was made so nothing else could be summoned. It didn't work this time, though, since I wasn't trying to kill Bob.

The Archangels flee away Satan to hell, leaving Bob unharmed.

Yes, but it's not an unblockable move. If it doesn't affect Bob because he is existing on a 2D plane (which wasn't previously stated as a condition, though also wasn't not stated...), other 2 dimensional objects should also be able to be summoned, giving way for Mr. Game and Watch to throw flaming bacon at Bob or any character along the lines of Paper Mario to be summoned to the cause.

I create an intangibility field around Bob, and the mass slips right through him, disappearing into the intangible floor. (Intangible things can willfully touch other intangible things, but nothing can touch them unwillfully.)

I summon a cookie, that Bob will want to be able to touch because cookies are tasty, but then when he touches it it explodes. At the very least, he is missing a hand now.

And Brandon, stop acting like you own the place.

Plus, you may not summon anything that has been already summoned. With that in mind....

I summon a telephone booth so Bob can dial a number that teleports him elsewhere (think Harry Potter. Wow this game is exciting!). This way, he doesn't get distracted by the cookie nor the excrement.

Additionally, it will be hard to not summon something that has already been summoned. Well, that rule only applies in the same game, so yeah.
