Guess the significance of an avatar

Postby roc314 » Sun Aug 31, 2008 6:12 pm UTC

The rules are simple, you try to guess where the avatar of anyone in this thread came from. For everyone with avatars straight out of xkcd, you'll probably "lose" quite easily. When someone guess where your avatar is from, you either change your avatar or not, but if you don't change, you don't get a new avatar for people to try to recognize. :)

People can ask questions about your avatar, and feel free to give any honest answer that does not give it away. Hints are also encouraged.

For my avatar, it is a print made by a relatively famous artist, I will accept his/her name and (the name of the print or a link to the full image) as prove of winnage (parentheses to show where the 'and' and 'or' were directed). When someone figures it out, I'll explain the full reason why I chose it.

Obviously, this thread'll work best if as many people as possible post in it, so come, come! :D

Looks like an old map section...wait...it seems to vaguely resemble Seven Bridges of Königsberg...Euler...Graph Theory. Yes?

Yes it's a map, no it isn't old, and no it isn't related to Euler. You're close though. Think fantasy.

Google informs me that your avatar is from Midnight Tides By Steven Erikson?

Umm I don't have a new avatar yet. Sorry guys.

Thank you! To be precise the number 5, and the centre of the map, is Tehol Beddict's house.

AFAIK, you can't get curves like that in paint.

And random? That's so harsh.

I remember you mentioning from where it came, but I can't remember.

Some African story/artwork...?

Can I be any more vague? If yes, would that make my guess more correct?

to be more correct that is a character from Haibane Renmei. wearing what looks to be a riot police helmet, but only because it's required on this forum while playing Mafia.

You play the mafia games, hence the police hat. (I don't have a hat, but I play on the chat irc, still, this needs to change.) And an angel. You're nice.

How's that?

it's because i'm right on all counts isn't it? after watching all of the AMV hell's, which showed a clip of Haibane Renmei, i made a list of animes that i wanted to watch, and HR happened to be on it. so i bittorrented it and watched it. here's a list of the anime that i've watched and can remember.

the significance of your rabbit is explained in your signature.
