Bumping lest I forget to send in a song.

[edit] since this is a page topper:
patzer wrote:Round 8: The Cover Song Round

This time, your entry has to be a cover of a song, rather than a recording by the original artist.

Submit your entries via PM. Deadline is 18:00 UTC, on 22 July.

Also, last round I was disqualified because I didn't vote.

That makes ordering them all the harder. But also increases the odds of extraordinary submissions. :)

Only 36 minutes left! Or 93 if we go by patzer's publication time of the songs.

By the way, does quoting a user trigger a notification for them? (if they have enabled notifications, unlike me)

Freddino hasn't submitted a vote yet (but everyone else has)

I sent the reminder PM to him a bit late (only 8 hours ago), so wondering whether it would be best for me to wait for 24 hours after sending that message before just publishing the results without him.

Congrats SuperJedi!

Last again. :(

I expected the cover of Pink Floyd to be from somi.

I knew Armed and Ready would be Freddino again.

The Pink Floyd cover is what I almost submitted for the last (obscure song) round, but then I decided it might be unfair because, while this cover has well under 50k views, the original by Pink Floyd is of course more popular.

I'm honestly pretty surprised that my submission last round (Weeping) won, but my submission this round was second-to-last. I would have guessed the results to be the other way round...

Oh hey I won. Not sure I was expecting that.

Unless commodorejohn has a specific theme he wants to run, I'm fine with hosting this round.

I do like the idea of hitting up that "music you made" theme at some point, but we should probably take a show of hands just to make sure that participation would be up for it - as far as this round goes, go for it!

I haven't made anything for many years and I'm not particularly proud of what I made, but I'll join a future "music by you" round.

I haven't yet recorded anything at all, but I would probably join as long as there's enough time for me to practice a little, record and edit my chart-topping single.

I guess I'd better go ahead and start the next round then.

The category for this round is going to be World History.

Submit a song that is about (or primarily about) one specific event in world history, that occurred no more recently than about (to pick a largely arbitrary number) 30 years ago.

The deadline for entries is going to be Wednesday, August 7th at 7:55 PM EST.

Entrants
1. SuperJedi224
2. somitomi
3. patzer
4. Flumble
4. faubi
5. flicky1991
6. commodorejohn
7.

I wonder whether this is so specific that we'll end up with duplicate submissions. Well, unless only 2 people can come up with something.

Personally I'd remove the "last 30 years" rule and make any event in world history okay.

Edit: OHHHHH, I misread. You're wanting a song based on any event more than 30 years ago, not less than 30 years ago?

That makes it much easier if so.

I almost made that mistake and submitted a song about the Iraq War, but then I realized.
