Are those lines related to each other or are they four separate things? What's beautiful? What's the significance of the lighthouse? Who is Dr. Ivanovich, and was what really necessary? Is it a reference to something, like a book or movie, that I haven't read/watched?

(...imagining that the narrator, Lorraine Ivanovich, finds out that someone else is a robot, and responds by pretending unconvincingly that she thinks that that's a good thing by responding "That's, um... beautiful". Later she takes the robot to a lighthouse, which is actually a place for destroying robots, and someone else asks if it was really necessary for her to do that.)

That's just, um, beautiful, beautiful beautiful... just beautiful.

Dr. Ivanovich, was it really necessary?
Are those lines related to each other or are they four separate things? What's beautiful? What's the significance of the lighthouse? Who is Dr. Ivanovich, and was what really necessary? Is it a reference to something, like a book or movie, that I haven't read/watched?

Huh, I hadn't really twigged just how old my signature is. Probably five and a bit years, give or take. Maybe it needs an update...

To answer your questions:
1) Both
2) Very hard to pin it down exactly, but "space in general" would be pretty accurate
3) It was out on Montok Point
4) No idea and likewise
5) Yes and no and yes and no

chridd wrote:(...imagining that the narrator, Lorraine Ivanovich, finds out that someone else is a robot, and responds by pretending unconvincingly that she thinks that that's a good thing by responding "That's, um... beautiful". Later she takes the robot to a lighthouse, which is actually a place for destroying robots, and someone else asks if it was really necessary for her to do that.)

Alternatively, let's go with this. It's much more interesting!

It's stylistically designed to be that way, and you can't undo that. But we can diminish the effects of it.
