### What happened to LaTeX?

It doesn't seem to have worked here for at least a few months, on either Firefox or Chrome, Windows or Mac.

One example where all you see is the code would be this post and subsequent posts on a thread I started.

Is there a simple fix?

I can confirm this isn't working for me on Firefox and Chrome either - Firefox is an old version for XP, and Chrome is pretty up-to-date on my Windows 7 computer.

Here's an example copied from Lenoxus' post above:

What you type in:

Code: Select all

$1-\frac{\binom{D-P}{N}}{\binom{D}{N}}$

What shows up:
$1-\frac{\binom{D-P}{N}}{\binom{D}{N}}$

To be honest, I'm kind of glad it doesn't work. It's slow and it causes the scroll location on the page to jump after loading has completed.

### Re: What happened to LaTeX?

The JSmath plugin disappeared the last major forum upgrade. I'm not aware of any plans to bring it back.

Code: Select all

enum ಠ_ಠ {°□°╰=1, °Д°╰, ಠ益ಠ╰};void ┻━┻︵╰(ಠ_ಠ ⚠) {exit((int)⚠);}

### Re: What happened to LaTeX?

Okay. So is there any sort of substitute available? (Thanks for the responses BTW).

Well, the math tags and the buttons to insert them are still there. So I guess you can still use placebo LaTeX.

Or, something like this:

If you really need a complicated equation, you could compile it in LaTeX yourself and upload the image file.

Edit: or what dubiobugtron said in a ninja edit.

Here's a handy site to replace the LaTeX functionality. Once you render the equation, it creates a permalink to the image (either copy and add .png, or copy link location on the image). You can even edit it later if you made a mistake.
Missing LaTeX functionality? This handy site renders equations and creates permalinks for them!

Yeah. I facepalmed at a rate of 30 Hz. It interfered with the TV.

Thanks, whereswalden! With your current sig, you technically didn't have to say anything at all, heh.
