Re: Value of a life

Start coughing it up, total strangers are dying as you read this sentence. But that doesn't make me feel guilty. I read the question as 'this person will be killed unless you give this much money' as opposed to 'you can save this person who is going to die naturally by giving x dollars'. The latter...

Re: Value of a life

I would pay any amount of money that I could possibly afford, for anyone. Obviously this amount would depend upon my current financial situation, but my answer is basically 'everything I have'. I would also go into major debt if I had to. Even if that made me poor for the rest of my life, it would s...

Re: Converations on the Internets

I find that people who do the whole 'Hi, how are you?. Fine thanks you?' thing are just looking for some conversation - some banter if you will. Sure they don't have anything to talk about but neither do I when I'm chatting to my friends. We just go with it and see what happens. There's nothing inhe...

I can't stand not putting a space between the comment symbol and the beginning of the sentence. But yes, capitals and full punctuation are nice, although I wouldn't bother with a full stop for short comments.

I would pay good money if someone invented a device for keeping my hands warm when i type. It's bloody freezing here, and my hands go too numb to type easily. I figure thin typing gloves, or even better - a heated keyboard. Anyone want a DIY project? :P

The meaning of self-awareness is obvious from the phrase surely? It is being aware that one is a thing and is a 'self' as opposed to just being an input and output device. Worms are unlikely to be self-aware, having only a central nervous system and no brain as such. They respond to stimuli and reac...

Mark Everett (E) from the Eels' father thought of the 'many worlds' hypothesis. For some reason I have heard this fact about 5 times in the past 2 days. A nun is having a bath when the door bells rings. 'Who is it?' she calls. 'Blind man' answers the man at the door. The nun figures there's no point getting dressed and answers the door as she is. The man smiles and says 'Nice tits, where do you want your blinds?'

The only package manager you should need is a terminal. I don't understand this at all. Assuming you mean all you need is a terminal to do everything manually, then sure that's all you need , but compared to some of the solutions out there, it is a really really bad choice for most uses.
