Re: Black Mesa (Very Sourcy!)

Hmm, I wonder why they're being vague about it on the front page, then? Well, at least they're keeping true to Valve's publishing ways.

Re: Black Mesa (Very Sourcy!)

So they've officially canned the 2009 release date and it appears the game will be landing in Q1 of 2010. The way they have been talking about it seems to indicate that it's damn close, and they're play-testing it every so often according to the Steam page. If it's official, where did they announce...

Re: Borderlands

I think I've about squeezed all the fun I can get out of my level 50 hunter. I've tried the lot of different builds, I've got all proficiencies - except RPGs - to at least level 10, pistols being at 50 and snipers/combat rifles at 25, done quests and challenges etcetera. Now I've still got a soldier...

Re: International game price discrepancies

That sort of crap really gets me angry. It's digital. It has no physical form. It should NOT be restricted by national boundaries, there is no reason for it to be other than the fuck-headedness of various overpaid men in grey suits. No reasons other than variable release dates, import regulations, ...

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED, but Firefox still works. Huh?

Here's the deal: From time to time, my internet connections stops working. It only happens occasionally, and I don't know what's causing it. Windows Network Diagnostics tells me "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection". When I ask Google Chrome for details about the erro...

Re: Great Steam Deals (Update me regularly!)

I bought Bioshock for $5 from D2D, as I did not really get why D2D only works in the US and UK. It's just downloading data, right? Set it downloading for the day, went to work. About halfway through the day, I got an email from my ISP saying my monthly cap had been reached. Turns out I had download...

I think it's the combination of elemental effect and action skill. There was one time I was crippled with my Bloodwing-on-fire still flying around, and there was a bandit that was lit up by my Bloodwing before I got shot. The bandit burned up, but I didn't get a second wind. I never put any points i...

But if you have a person in the gunner's seat who likes to blast everything that moves, the rocket launcher is a real pain in the ass. More often than not they'll blow up the both of you with it. Re: Borderlands

Well, I understand not giving more skill points or health. But raising the cap just for more equipment possibilities and more challenge would be plenty. I mean, they didn't even add any guns to the DLC. How bad would that be? If I knew that that there was a whole new manufacturer's worth of weapons...

Haven't you noticed the little British flag in the top right corner of Direct2Drive? That means there is a Direct2Drive UK too, which also sells most of its games to the European Union residents. Yeah, EU gamers, the UK not included, get ripped off big time on their games, Steam being on top of the ...

Re: Borderlands

I think the decision not to raise the level cap was a good one. When you raise it once and give the players higher level enemies, you're expected to do it again in the next DLC, and the next, which in the end, will only lead to all the players in playthrough 6.5 on level 80. What would be a good way...

Also, a midweek madness sale on Zeno Clash has been and gone (a pretty tidy £3.50, so I bought it) and there's a weekend deal on Tomb Raider: Underworld. Well, it still is two shots, and that means your next shot is automatically less accurate. On the US site you can only buy them from the US or Canada, and from the UK site you can buy them from the UK and the European Union, generally speaking. That is a damn good deal on Mirror's Edge. $5 for a game that practically invented a genre is almost an automatic buy. I got it for free. Legally. From the EA Store.
