Re: I don't understand the faith people put in religious tex

It's not really very complicated. They believe it to be the Word of God. Some believe it to be the literal Word of God - ie Prophecy: God has spoken directly to people (whether they realise it or not). And some believe it merely to be the writings of people who had close personal relationships with...

Re: Is Atheism a Rational Stance?

If an individual truly believes that something is imaginary then why discuss it? More importantly, why oppose it? I suppose it's because a group of individuals that do carry such a belief wield power that affects you in a negative way. However, since the only way to neutralize a belief is to sway a...

And motivation should not be ignored either. If someone is hurting themselves for non-sexual reasons, [b[it is often as a form of 'cry for help'[/b] or as a symptom of an underlying condition that could worsen. These cases obviously need to be addressed differently from cases where self-harm is muc...

Re: 1036: "Reviews"

I find it incredibly interesting that it was not so long ago that we would usually associate internet access with desktop computers, and sometimes laptops. Now, most of us associate internet access with mobile phones.

I'm only 17 and I find it hard to get my head around that.

Re: BDSM and Self-Harm

Why does it have to be labeled as "okay" or "not okay'"? I personally feel that any harm of the self is fine. It's your choice and it's no one else's right or responsibility to tell you that what you are doing is "not okay". I don't believe that intervention is right. I...

Re: I want to write like Neil Gaimen

Neil Gaiman is an excellent storyteller. His stories aren't very original, but that's not the point. He is a fairly awful writer, most of the time. His best stuff is Sandman, where somebody else provides the illustrations and he simply provides the story. His worst stuff is probably his poetry. Odd...

If I want just caffeine I drink an energy drink or black coffee. But otherwise I drink coffee just cause it's great. I love caffeine and coffee, so it's perfect. I can make myself cappuccino's and latte's to my own (low) standards at home. I have a local cafe just down the road from my school that m...

I couldn't disagree with you more. Reznors version sounds whiny and angsty; Cash's version sounds nostalgic, insightful, and sorrowful.
I guess i prefer the raw emotion and passion of the original

Johnny Cash Hurt Awesome cover. I hate to be an elitist (not really) but the original is a lot better. While we're talking Nine Inch Nails, (I am at least) there are a few other songs that fit this: The Day The Whole World Went Away Something I Can Never Have The Great Below Ripe [With Decay] (Inst...

Re: Where has rock gone?

Seriously? Who needs new music? 1999 was the last good year for music and I just listen to older music. I can't stand most new music, possibly excepting bands which cane out prior to 1999 and continued to release albums afterwards, with a (semi) consistent decline in quality. However there are a few...

I'm a fan of the 90's, so AEnima is my favourite album. I cannot pick a favourite song because they don't have a bad song, however the first one I ever heard was Forty Six & 2. Tool is the first hard rock band I ever listened to, so they are responsible for getting me into the genre. They are on...

Re: 0385: "How It Works"

The question itself has no solution. The integral of x^2 has no solution unless it's with respect to something, i.e. dx.

x^2 dx = x^3/3 + c
x^2 dQ = Qx^2 + c

Without a d(something), it has nothing to give respect to. Hence, it has no solution. No wonder they guessed Pi.

Re: Confessional Shed - I'll keep a look-out

I relate WAY too much to Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold.

I have a phobia of broken glass, since a time when I was drunk with people and I got incredibly suicidal and cut my arm with glass I threw at a wall. I freak out every time since. I also refuse to drink and I hate parties.

I hate myself.

Who still buys music?

I know most people download music for free. Does anyone still buy music? I collect CDs. I sometimes download music I intend to buy, or if I don't care about it enough to pay for it. But I mostly buy CDs. Buying mp3s from Amazon or iTunes doesn't count. Yeah, you pay for it, but you're not actually b...
