Re: Trump presidency

I am actually finding it next to impossible to keep up with this topic as well. For the past decades, everything we have been trying to do to fix problems with society has been met by oppositions by Republicans ... Yet what are the alternatives of working with at least some of the republican or unde...

Re: Trump presidency

You make that assertion, but I don't know why. Absolutely everything we know about why Trump won was because of the Hillary stuff with the emails and the leaks, not because we offended too many racists and theocrats that had no intention of voting Democrat in the first place. Do you seriously belie...

I like how the fault lies with the people against Trump, not the people who voted for him even after seeing everything he stood for. Re: Trump presidency

The other route of failure would be for voters to abandon him but you need to find something that is distasteful to a lot of voters. I'm still looking for an argument that isn't "Trump is a terrible person and is unfit to lead". That argument works very well if it comes from people truste...

She also won the popular vote by a lot less than fivethirtyeight predicted though so their method was off on that as well. If anything that is worse for their method because being 1.2pp off on a predicted 3.5pp spread for a very close race is quite a bit. Besides its not like they accidentally made ...

I quite enjoyed it but it definitely isn't for everyone. It really relies on building up an atmosphere and submerging the viewers in it to make them believe some pretty wild/goofy things. I can definitely see how someone who expected a more traditional TV show wouldn't like it at all. I have to say ...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII naming contest

I was thinking something along the lines of Fall of the Jedi but its probably too much of a downer for a title. Forces of Destiny sounds really vague. If they stick to the normal naming scheme (no reason to expect they will, really), the first movie in the trilogy gets a rather vague title like A Ne...

Saw it recently, thought it was pretty good but not quite as good as Paranorman. Specifically the ending didn't seem to fit with the rest of the story, almost like a bit of the movie was missing from right before the final confrontation? Anyway, if anyone liked Kubo but hasn't seen Paranorman, you s...

Yeah, the point is that you can probably find a movie-specific justification for every instance, but in context it just becomes whitewashing. So you wouldn't notice except someone did and told you it was bad so now you do care that they made a change. And it is pretty damn far from whitewashing but...

Because it was funny, colorful, fast-paced and exciting which makes it a pretty good trailer. You are not criticizing it for being a bad trailer but for not including something perfectly arbitrary that only you apparently expected it to include (i.e. lots of dialogue for Gamora).
