Re: Is the faster processor on the new MacBook worth it?

Are yall sure that you can't upgrade to 16 GB of RAM later? I thought Macbook Pros allowed you to insert more ram (although I could be wrong about that) Yep. Retina models have the RAM and SSD soldered to the logic board. Non-retina models still have swappable drives and RAM. Airs have soldered RAM...

Re: Is the faster processor on the new MacBook worth it?

Yeah, Apple has, for better or worse, soldered everything to the logic board, so whatever you buy now will be what you're stuck with for the duration of ownership. It *is* with noting that Macs tend to sell for a good proportion of their original cost (I sold a base model MacBook in okay but far fro...

Get her Daytripper . It's a bit dark in places, but otherwise absolutely brilliant and poignant. No superheroes in sight, too! If she would want something a bit more actiony, I'd recommend Locke and Key Vol 1 . Yes, Daytripper is fantastic! I wish I could offer more, but I've never even heard of Ca...

Re: Apple gets a ban on Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Apple add a huge amount of value. If they didn't, people wouldn't buy their products in such numbers. Yes, the technology is heavily locked down but, guess what, that simplicity and ease-of-use - the lack of confusing configuration options - the fact everything just works straight out of the box, a...

I am all for charging people for work. That doesn't mean others should be able to charge me again for sending that work to someone else; they haven't really done any work on what I've bought between the time I bought it and sent it to someone, have they? Just FYI, Surface RT ships (I think?) with MS Office. It will certainly have it available. I'm not sure if they've stated exactly which parts will be included, but I think it's an easy bet to say Word, Excel, and Outlook will be there, and I wouldn't be shocked to see OneNote included, as well. Not running it is probably the only way.

Actually, I suppose you find an LCD that's the same size as the stock CRT, figure out a way to wire it in, and that would do it. I'd imagine the screen is the biggest power user in one of those.
