Re: SF Masterworks Series

"The Moon is a harsh mistress" (72) is one of the best SF novels I've ever read. Also, why isn't "The left hand of darkness" (Le Guin) in the list? It's another great book! (if it's there and I didn't see it, my apologies; a week of studying algebraic geometry non-stop has left m...

Re: *shamefaced* I like Windows XP.

On principal, I dislike Microsoft as a company because of the unethical way in which the company started, and the unethical business practices they employ even today. Microsoft, through Bill Gates, has donated Billions of dollars to extremely noble causes. Buy Microsoft, help a dying kid in Africa!...

Re: Does God Exist?

How can you define wisdom? ++$_ asked you if you can devise an experiment that would allow you to test for wisdom in a number of people who prayed for it and a control group who didn't, because if you can't, then you can't state that prayer works as a fact.

Re: 0119: "Worst Band Name Ever"

This is now officially my goal. When I start writing music, I will so upload to iTunes as that. Artist: Artist Title: Title Album: Album If only I could produce it in the year "Year"... And if ARTIST was taken, CONTRIBUTING ARTIST also works. I was just about to say the following: If it i...

Re: Worst/Overrated books.

Oh no, not TV Tropes, please! I had to study, and now I'll pass the next five hours on that damn site...Anyhow, one of the few books I actually struggled to finish was "Disgrace" by Coetzee. Those 300 pages felt more like 3000...Also, I'm surprised nobody mentioned Xenocide! I picked it up...

It's probably supposed to be cheesy...At least, I hope it is! And I'm still waiting for the "You don't know what I'm capable of" pun!

Re: Recommend a book

Thanks for the suggestions, they'll keep me occupied for a while :) However, I'm startled no one suggested Harry Turtledove's World War Series ... To sum up four 600-page books in a sentence, what if aliens chose the middle of WW2 to try and conquer Earth?. I'm reading the sequels right now ( Coloni...
