Re: John Cheese: Politicians don't understand poverty

You say that you didn't like the guy's blog...then you say virtually exactly the same shit he said, while still acting like you disagree.

Are you upset he didn't say it with as much non-sensically righteous indignation?

buy Goodwill underwear. Do you really think the poor don't? If they don't it is a supply issue, because the middle class can get there first. Yes, I think many of them don't, and the middle class getting there first is ridiculous...for underwear? Get real. know $8 an hour is way more than most peop...

Then does it matter if it's a money pit? Food and Housing is a money pit in that sense too. Agree.

I just read that, and all of that is very true and practical, and nothing the author was suggesting relied on having money upfront for anything...quite the extreme opposite actually.

Re: John Cheese: Politicians don't understand poverty

IQ is not static either; twin studies show that the child that ends up with the more educated family ends up with a higher IQ, despite having the same genes. That's why IQ has its limits as far as determining innate intelligence. Look, I believe that poverty is in part the result of a person's life...

Re: John Cheese: Politicians don't understand poverty

It does, but really only in the case of poverty to the point of malnutrition. Education opportunities don't actually affect intelligence itself. There's also of course genetics though at play too which would potentially lead to dumb parents having dumb kids etc... But the causation isn't really rele...

Well, define stupid

Are Half of the bottom 10% of income also in the bottom 25% of intelligence? Hmmm....quite possibly, yes.

I'd actually say I'm virtually certain that's true if you restrict it to poor males, and incredibly certain if it's poor white males.

Made it out of group play, then got knocked out by a GM Zerg

Really good closer to Wings of Liberty for me, can't wait for HotS to come out now.

The thing is, we know if you then built a refinery. And next year, if its still a good idea to build another one, you should. And you should continue doing that until such time as it ceases being a good idea to do. Dividends aren't the only goal though, if they built 3 or 9 or 20 refineries, and you...

But ultimately, the stock is valued as the present value of those future dividends. If the company can say 'hey, we could give you $10 now or we could use it to build a new factory and pay you $20 next year', yeah, the stock price should reflect that a bigger dividend will arrive down the road. But...

The market outpacing inflation is a very big IF, especially after taking into account capital gains and so forth. And no, I don't consider skyrocketing stock prices to be a 'gain'; that's just what you were able to get from other suckers investors. The gain is the dividend. The entire fucking point...

Day9 is really more for learning the game over just watching it.

If I'm gonna watch a game, it's usually either just a live stream or VODs of GSL though, that tends to be the higher level players.

Being cheap can play a role for sure, probably a big one, but I don't really think its the top deciding factor. People don't have a right to being a tap dancing street performer, and there's definitely no precedent for a right to refuse education. The point was that it's not abortion-specific, as it had largely been treated in discussions on the topic.
