Re: Windows 7: Says I am not connected to network...but I am

Thanks guys. I've done the steps you recommend several times, George H, and neither wizard helps at all. The laptop is an ASUS M51SN, about 2 years old now. NIC card is an Atheros L1 Gigabit cars, I updated the drivers to the latest from the manufacturer and still have the problem. WLAN is Intel Wir...

Re: Windows 7: Says I am not connected to network...but I am

It's not just the tray - if I try to set up an internal network I'm told I'm not connected to any networks....but I am of course. Gah.

Windows 7: Says I am not connected to network...but I am!

I'm totally stumped by an issue and hoping somone here may be able to help. I can browse any website and send receive emails, download files, etc etc. But the network status icon always says I am not connected to any networks, and when I go into Network & Sharing Center I get the same thing. I h...

Re: Travel by geology

Yes you're quite right. Realised that as I submitted the post :)

Just had a thought - if the plates are converging, and the plate I am on passes over the top of the other when they meet, it could have the effect of raising me up to the required floor level too, right?

Re: Travel by geology

OK so the plate I am travelling on would would need to be on a different plate to where I was heading, which would mean they'd be converging, and I'd therefore end up being swallowed up in a crevasse and never make it to work. Pah! Details! They always get in the way of a good joke :) So, maybe I ca...

Travel by geology

Today my journey to work took so long that I sent a joke email into work suggesting the bus I was on, was using Plate Tectonics to move and I would be in the office sometime in the next millennia. Yeah, I know, funny  Anyway...that got me to thinking how long it really would take to travel usi...

Re: best fantasy author working

Oops I do apologise, the mention of the critique should have been directed at Thadlerian. So, er, sorry and I agree with you 100% Apteryx :)

Oh and my fave characters...by far...have to be Tehol and Bugg (Mael). Very very funny indeed :)

Re: best fantasy author working

That is indeed great news. Re. Erikson, I can see what you mean in you're somewhat dismissive critique of his books...but I like it that way and it is still very enthralling and engaging :) And also very frustratingly obtuse at times too. And as for characterisation, I give you: Beak and his candles...

Re: Inception

One thing that bugged me was the state of their limbo world after 50+ years of building. 50 years to create ANYTHING they want...and they end up with a place that looks like it had been designed by the worst utilitarian architects of Communist Poland.

Re: best fantasy author working

I'd have to say that for me the best fantasy writer currently working is Steven Erikson. The Malazan Book of the Fallen series is epic in scope and has some very gritty and realistic battle scenes. There aren't many books that make me weep, but this series has done so on more than one occasion. High...

I have a t-shirt which has the same image on it as PezDispenser's avatar. That is all.

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hi all. I'm Bamm (real name Nick) and I was pointed in the direction if these fora by Red Hal. A little about me: I'm STILL under 40 (until June anyway), from Manchester in the UK but currently living Sydney, Australia. I like gadgetry, geekery and gaming, all at once where possible. I also like pho...
