Re: 1386: "Stupid People are Stupid"

50% of the population are below average intelligence. What percentage aren't good with math? 100 + 100 + 100 + 70 + 100 = 470 Average is 470/5 = 94 Only 20% of the population scored below the average on this test. Distribution is not always even. I am always amazed how for some people the world is entirely composed of flat ground, cliffs and slippery slopes. Especially in politics, there doesn't seem to be anything like a grassy hill, a staircase or a well-cemented ramp. Any departure from the horizontal has to end in certain death. Serious...

World's oldest man EVER?

So the oldest person currently alive is believed to be 123. I say "believed" because he was born before his country made birth certificates. If he's 123, that would make him the oldest person recorded (in a verifiable manner). http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/08/16/20051783-123-year...

As someone else mentioned, I think it's an interesting premise. It's certainly timely, and I'm sure it would hit home with a lot of people these days. My artistic rendition of philosophical concepts

Ok, so maybe "artistic" isn't the most appropriate word. Regardless, I was musing over some philosophical tenets today, and I realized that I was automatically conceptualizing them in a visual way. Even though I was reading an article, and my thoughts could be explained in language, I was ...

Randall is illustrating an interesting concept. What becomes of us when we are no more than blue prints to be copied, transferred, and built when needed? What becomes of us when our blue prints are no longer needed? Technically, that is all we are and ever have been. All life on Earth, humans inclu...

Basically, the moral of the story is the power of giving - not for any reward or even for self-worth, but simply how extraordinary it is to give freely and wholly.

Unless I'm mistaken, it seems that Randall's saying copyright laws and concern for fair profit has made this moral obsolete.

As strange as "I'm sorry" sounds, there's nothing better. Saying "I'm sorry for your loss" doesn't really change the meaning; saying that someone has my condolences sounds like someone died; and "I feel bad for you" just sounds condescending.
