Re: Confusing Slang

I'm Irish, but was born in England so I remember when I moved over I was so confused at some of the slang my classmates were using. 'Yoke' for 'thing' or 'object' (As in, "Pass me that yoke over there, would ya.") 'Press' for 'cupboard' This extended to calling the airing cupboard the hot ...

Re: What is your name an anagram of?

R.C. grue break!

That is using only my middle and last names, seeing as my first name is already my username. Also, everyone needs to take a break and go have some fun with their radio-controlled grues :P

Re: Would you kindly share your webcomic reading list?

Well, all of the ones I read have been mentioned except Scandinavia and the World. It's quite good, but for some of the strips you need the explanation in the newspost.

Re: Awesome Thread (to balance Rant Thread)

I built a house out of a box for a rock named Bellamy!

I'm not sure why this makes me so happy, it just does. Also, I am eating an ice-lolly. It is delicious.

Re: Best and Worst Discworld

For example, Night Watch was a lot darker than most. And eternally at night, even during sections that were in daytime. Night Watch remains possibly my favourite novel ever. I read Night Watch on a plane journey and when I finished it, the first thing I though was "Who knew Ankh-Morpork could ...

Re: Books you never finished

This is slightly odd but I read through all the Lord of the Rings books and loved them, but I have never read The Hobbit. I started about a year ago after realising I'd seemed to have missed out on a brilliant book, but I gave up almost immediately out of boredom. This was after I read LotR :?

My Hobby: Sticking apple stickers on random people. My record is 16 hits without being caught. That's not cool. Aah, but I am trying to subconsciously get them to eat more fruit. Plus, I have to buy the apples to get the stickers which is good for the economy, not to mention my health. 'Tis indeed ...

My Hobby: Obsessively manipulating any number I see using the numbers 2, 8 and 42 until it becomes 2, 8 or 42. This gets irritating with big numbers as I usually don't have a calculator with me.

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Hi, I'm Órla and I'm from Ireland. I am pretty shy so I'm more a lurker than a poster. Umm, I like reading and the internet and cinnamon toast and that's all I can tell you. The rest is in a file marked 'TOP SECRET' in a locked safe in a secret compartment in an underground vault in a secret buildin...

Re: Books that made you cry

Well, do you want the full list or just the short version? I am completely unaffected by anything in movies but books just make weepy. The most recent ones that made me cry were Ways to Live Forever by Sally Nicholls, The Thing With Finn by Tom Kelly, The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness, How I Li...
